    DE Shave # 498 -DEcember Shave 7 of 15

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Assured (Dollar Tree)
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3)
    Brush: Semogue Torga C5
Pre-Shave: Pears Soap - Mint Extract
    Lather: Proraso White
Aftershave: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue
    Additional Care:
    Maggards Alum
    Nivea Sensitive Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Fantastic basic shave, low budget, this morning. The Proraso soap never fails to give a great lather . The Assured DE, PIF’d by Joe, @Trigger, delivered an error free close shave. Finally, the AV finished this shave of nicely.

Hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

My setup for before bed after my shower.

Vintage Gillette open comb with the Shark blade (1)
Captian's Choice "Venture" whisked with Classic Shaving synthetic brush (soft)
Post-shave - Thayers Toner "Rose Petal" and Captian's Choice "Venture" balm
    Pinaud Clubman after-shave lotion

I am doing really well with the SE & DE razors. I do need to work more with the Feather DX and the kamasuri razor too. They are the only razors that bite me now. Not bad but, I don't like cuts! Shaving is very pleasant with the DE & SE razors. I LOVE my vintage razors!

Great low budget shave Joe. Just to give you a word of caution on that razor. It sometimes gets loose so check it after every pass.

My Captain's Choice 45th Parallel shave cream was delivered today so I thought I try it and compare it to the 45th Parallel soap from yesterday's shave. I could have placed the cream in my shave bowl, but I decided to put the cream directly on my damp brush and bring it to my wet face to face lather. Therefore, there's no lather pic. I must say that the cream lathered easily and it was very slick. The scent is more cherry forward unlike the soap. However, it is still mild, but I am OK with it. You really don't need much to get a nice lather, but it was much lighter on my second and third pass. I attribute it to my lack of experience on how much cream is needed for this product. However, I still was able to get a BBS pass without any incidents.
The alum gave me some feedback, but it wasn't a big deal. Did the witch hazel and matching aftershave application to end this session. Overall, I prefer the cream over the soap for the scent, but they both perform well. Take care.

wish I could say mine was, but, as I said in another post it was "very average". I'll do better tomorrow. We say "Technique Trumps Tools," but mine was a "MIND trumps Technique".
