Well, my first IKE wa a success. Very pleasant scent-hard to describe, other than what I said yesterday, that it was one of JFK's favorite scents. If President Eisenhower liked it too, nobody knows but him and his wife Mamie. Course they are ..er..."unavailable for comment". My next Ike test is to see how it performs with a synthetic brush. I didn't time the brush preparation-hard to notice with a bright knot. Clean and clear all around. No damage. 2 passes. The pour spout on the aftershave is very tight, thus not muich comes out with each shake, but I like it like that-no Niagra Falls problem to worry about. As to how it was that JFK grew to love Eight&Bob(the feature scent in Ike), he and a friend were touring in France during their college years(late 1930's), and smelled it on a man who turned out to be the scent's artisan. They(JFK and his friend)complimented the man and JFK ordered a set of it when he got back to college. In ech set were 9 bottles, so he took 8 and gave one to his brother, Robert F. Kennedy-thus making great use of the "Eight And Bob" name. Later the artisan made a special scent devoted to RFK, which is part of the collectionAs for this shave today- As Outstanding As It Gets. .

Thank you Gary......I'd like to get Doc Ezlovan to do an "Eight And Bob" clone sometime. I wonder if he's thought of it.

Thanks Joe. It's true that I can shave way under 24 hrs, but I will wait until Sunday morning to shave with a much sharper straight.

It seems you gave the fair haired man from New England a template to make his posts more specific. What are the odds that he would use it?

Today is my 6th year TSD Anniversary. Looking back, I never thought how much knowledge I have attained by being here. I want to thank my former and current TSD threadmates for sharing your shaving knowledge with me. I am definitely a better shaver because of you. Thanks.

Well now, here's something interesting I just learned....Nick Shaves(maybe some of you guys have heard him)had a reviewer of the Kennedy prodiuct(Sttike Gold Shaves)say it was "the best scent he ever tried"(JFK, that is). Does this mean that both Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy loved Eight And Bob, and Kennedy loved the scent Strike Gold had for him in addition?

Sunday December 22 (very early morning) - Decadent December

Prep: Hot shower with Aleppo olive oil soap w/ 20% bay laurel oil (traditional anti-acne)

Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black stainless steel injector w/ SE open comb "nick-proof" plate / Supply Black Label (about 11)

Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street Key Lime shaving soap (stick)

Brush: Jason's 30DC LE maple cashmere

    Lather Bowl: None

Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Jeeves of Hudson Street Key Lime splash

Last shave: Wednesday morning - 4 days

    The setup:

    IMG_20241203_074026.jpg

My usual setup for Decadent December, since I am trying to Titanic the Jeeves of Hudson Street Key Lime shave stick (the bottle of splash will last for about 100 more uses than the soap will).

I did my usual two passes today - first WTG and then XTG. Result was a DFS with no bloodspots or razorburn. Alum was silent.

The splash has a bit of menthol in it so it gives a mild alcohol / menthol burn. Also has witch hazel and glycerin in it for good skincare afterwards. Actually, the Jeeves of Hudson Street splashes were quite straightforward - denatured alcohol, menthol, witch hazel, glycerin and essential oils for fragrance. That was it.

Hope last week and this weekend treated everyone well. If I don't shave again before Wednesday (Xmas Day) , I hope everyone has a good holiday season.

Useless boot fact: R.M.Williams are rarely seen around here (the Canadian Prairies), but their main "Down Under" boot competitor - Blundstone - are very popular. In fact, I have three pairs myself - a regular pair, a winter pair, and a workboot safety pair that I used to use primarily as motorcycling boots back in my riding days.
