    It's just a shave

    Razor - Muhle R41
    Blade - sharp-star.jpg
    Soap - Tabac
    Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Badger
    Finish - A spritz of Tabac

    I have a plan ready to go for myself starting January 1, so just piecing together some shaves until then. Decided to go for an aggressive DE today, which I like, and pair it with one of the finest blades ever made. The big Muhle provides lots of heft and blade exposure, and with the sharp and smooth Sharp Star it's a combination hard to beat.

    Classic soap choice with the Tabac. I had decided earlier this year to stay focused on Stirling soaps, and feature Tabac and Mitchell's Wool Fat as the two classics to keep around. Seems, however, that the Fat is gone, out of business, kaput. Well, that's the conventional wisdom. Still following that story. So, Tabac has the honors of being my only classic focus. I'm considering a few others to replace the Fat. (Side note - Stirling Sheep provides the mutton tallow/lanolin feel and effect of the Fat and is easier to lather.)

    To whip up the Tabac, my Wolf Whiskers badger. My first major brush purchase back in the day. I was lucky enough to get on the list that year.

    Fine shave, smooth, effective, two passes with a touch up run on the second pass and I'm set for the night and one day closer to 2025!

    That is a neat looking brush Neal. Btw, I was going through my piffed blades that were sent to me awhile back and found an open Sharp Star box, but it had only one blade. Eventually, I will get to use it and see why you like it so much.lol

    I'll be waiting for your review! It appears the Sharp Star is no longer available to purchase, at least through Ebay and other sources I had. None of my Russian sellers are around anymore, likely because of the political changes there. And, the Sharp Star was a limited run from Mostochlegmash in 2013 for sale into the Middle Eastern market. I'm pretty sure that between Charlie @wristwatchb and myself we monopolized the supply. I currently have 1475 of them in my blade vault. Give or take a few stragglers.

    The Wolf Whiskers brush was custom made with my choice of colors and knot. Glad you like it!

    New Arrival

    As I have been unpacking my collection I've been taking some notes on "missing" razors. Not that I've lost any, though I was forced to sell a few (sad to say my Toggle was one of them), but I have a few items I have wanted to fill out categories so to speak. The Gillette Super Speed is one of those razors with enough variations to make it a cool thing, to me at least, to collect them all. I have a '46/47 no-notch, a '47 notch, a 1955 Red Tip in pristine condition, and a couple of flair tips, including a birth year. Today I added a 1976, which features the black plastic handle the later versions went to. The only one missing now is a Blue Tip, and I'm still looking for the right one of those. Say hello to the newest member of my Super Speed family.

    Thanks Neal, that's some good info. I don't mind the boars, and if the correct horsehair comes along I won't be averse to it, but the tangling risk is something was not aware of, so that is useful to know.

    Thanks Gary

    Classic rocket shave and a nice looking Omega.

    Lovely shave

    Can't go wrong with the Tabac. Never seen that blade for sale, but hey I have others!
    I stocked up some MWF when rumours of its demise circulated, managed to get some from Melbourne supplier. I never sort of gelled with MWF so will want to spend more time with it in 2025 I think

    Nice end to the year Barry, some nice looking kit there!

    1 Days growth

    Usual hot water Prep and Preshave = T&H No 10
    Soap = Christmas Eve
    Brush = Omega 10049
    Bowl = white plastic
    Razor = Gillette Red Tip (replated BRG)
    Blade = Voskhod (2)
    Passes = 2
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers rose petal, Nivea Balm
    ASL = Whiskey Woods
    Scent = Guerlain Pour Homme EdP
    Score = 9+ / 10
    Damage = None

    Alum was nice and quiet. I chose the big boar because it works better with the Sterling soaps, it soaks up more soap, holds it nicely until needed and splays beautifully

    Another fantastic shave to end 2024 on a high note
    I am finding different ways to shave around the tricky chin, adams' apple and swirling neck areas, I think it's subconscious. Different parts of the beard map can tolerate more pressure than other areas, after 2 years it is slowly coming together nicely and is more enjoyable

    Slowly finishing up the T&H No 10 and the Guerlain EdP: pretty sure they will be done during January

    Thanks to @Trigger Joe for hosting another excellent 30DC month
