Thank you Joe. It did. Just too busy during the day making Italian bread, Bolognese sauce and other delicacies for dinner. Therefore the late post, too tired to write.

Have yet to set it up. I'm listing my "sources", isn't that enough?? Appears to me that talking about how I did my shave should suffice in here.

    Good evening.

    Shavette Shave # 597
    Magic by Magic Barber
    Derby 1/2 DE Blade (5)
    MrEE Tuxedo Brush
    Stirling Spice SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 33 hrs.

    20250103_194047.jpg

I went for the Magic Barber Shavette. It is not a beginner shavette because the blade edge is completely exposed. However, it does provide wonderful shave. This evening's shave was no exception. Three passes gave me a very close, bloodless shave. I really could have stopped at 2 passes.

Haven't use Stirling Spice in awhile so I went for it. I am not going to bore you about how wonderful this soap is because you can see for yourself below.

The alum feedback was minimal on my neck, but that was it. Splashed on the witch hazel and the fantastic dupe aftershave and I am feeling clean and refreshed. Take care.

Razor - Gillette New Deluxe SC
    Blade - gillette-sputnik.jpg
    Soap - Stirling Mountain Man
    Brush Jayaruh JR #54

A little late to the party but I made it. Working from oldest to newest Gillette I came up to one of my favorite razors, the Gillette New Deluxe Short Comb. This razor was produced sometime in the 1930's. Again, exact dating is difficult. This is a particular favorite because this is "Matthew". The infamous "haunted razor" that I was dared to buy in the 30DC. Very interesting story behind this razor, but the short version is that it was purchased and used by a gentleman named Matthew who died, apparently in the Korean conflict, and the razor was never used again until I purchased it and cleaned it up. This razor was in horrid condition with so much dirt and grime buildup I thought the lettering on the baseplate might be lost. It also still had a very corroded Gillette Blue Blade in it. I cleaned it up and sent it off to Razorplate.com and he worked an absolute miracle on this beauty. All the lettering was in pristine condition and this thing gleams! It also shaves like a dream, with a bit more of an aggressive touch than an long comb and as smooth as they come.

I paired it with a Sputnik blade, the Teflon coated classic from St. Petersburg. Sputnik isn't a bad blade, but there's a better Russian teflon blade that starts with a V. The Sputnik isn't as sharp or quite as smooth but still delivers very nice shaves and is a great backup to have around.

Soap was Stirling's Mountain Man, a personal favorite and I used my JR #54 to keep the @Jayaruh string going after trying out #456 last night. Mountains of lather and a great shave!

Predicting the end of the world snowstorm here the next few days. I figure it will either be that bad or it will be golfing weather out of nowhere. Have a great weekend!

    (Face & Head Shave)

A new eclectic shave set up to start the first weekend face & head shave of 2025...

Maiden outing with the Amazon Solimo blade. First verdict? This morning I done a extra XTG pass to test the blade edge of which I get the feeling this blade will give good longevity, only time will tell, so I'll push them to max of four 3 pass +pick ups' shaves per blade for my shaving curiosity throughout the month.

The Gillette Guard performance was more than acceptable mowing through my head stubble with effortless ease.

A close comfortable face & head shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a few small squirts of Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel EdT to the pulse points.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

A re al good shave this morning. That soap I used is a Grooming Dept. product, although I forget if I purchased it from there or from Don Youngner's team at Wet The Face on Long Island. Regardless, I do like it. It could ALMOST pass as a Fine Latigo twin. Maybe that was the logic behind Grooming Dept. "Hey, fellas, we need a Fine Latigo dupe". But onto The shave: I'm gradually beccoming "One" with one of the Boar brushes, which is good news. Nice setup for the shave. Clean and Clear all over. Np damage to be seen(or felt). 2 healthy passes. A great close from the Fine Latigo A.S. As Outstanding As It Gets.
