July 20 SOTM Head and Face Shave

    Good morning.

    Straight Razor Shave #563
    Ralf Aust
    Schick E-3 Injector
    Ted Pella Injector Blade (10)
    Hembree/Maggard Timberwolf Brush
    TSD Barbershoppe SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 35.5 h hrs
    Dome Turf: 4.5 days

Well, I guess that I have gotten into the habit of a longer time span between headshaves. 4.5 days is now my personal record. I went with the Schick E 3 Injector which is my most aggressive Injector Razor in my den. Did a great job on getting a smooth comfortable shave without any red leakage on 3 passes plus touchups.
On my face, I used one of my Aust Razors and on 3 passes got a close, smooth and error-free shave.

    20240720_094502.jpg

The soap was the TSD Barbershoppe and it gave a very slick lather. I purposely made it thin to see how little I can use to do a head and face shave. Although the lather was a little transparent, it did a great job.
Did have some feedback on the dome, but it was negligible everywhere else. Splashed on the witch hazel and the matching aftershave to finish this session. I am going to the gym and then going to a church picnic right after. Take care.

What began as a great shave turned a little ugly, but ended up fine. What do I mean. And how can something be A LITTLE ugly. 0:40 at the Loading Dock for the Stoylin "li'l brudder". A clean and clear shave on all points north of Cactus Nation(neck). Cactus became a struggle, as I saw a long streak of redness along the right side. How did THAT get there? I can only guess my technique trumped my tools. The cold water rinse and Clubman Gent's Gin A.S. calmed things down, but provided that tingly feeling of chill over redness. Tough to grade this one, as the "great" in all areas over Cactus(as I mentioned) and the "mediocre" at Cactus averages out to a Fairly Outstanding.

Usual hot water prep and PR pre-shave
    Software: Triple Tabac, Tabac, Tabac
Hardware: Schick M adjustable, Blade Schick (1)
    Passes: 2 +
Lovely thick lather from the Tabac. Interestingly the type M (M3?) does not seem to get clogged

The previous time that I used the M, the blade was not aligned, so it was not a good day

Today: fresh blade properly aligned, superb shave

It feels totally different to the HD shave of yesterday. Definitely gets closer, easy to find the angle, even around the chin area

Started at the lowest setting and it still did a great job. Up to setting 3 for the rest of the shave. Two passes only needed with some touch ups

ATG in front of the ears = BBS both way, scarily smooth

Alum was felt, but it didn’t protest too much

    Delightful Tabac balm and lotion

I have more confidence in this razor now, and will be holding on to it

    (Skipped the coffee this morning....)

Great Sunday to one and all
