    Thanks Gary

Lovely shave Joe, I keep popping in the local on line vendor to look for the Tsuka, everyone speaks highly of it

Lovely result. The Henson was on my "to buy" list because of its good reviews, but I have enough razors for now;)

Nice John, no blood, no razorburn, silence from the Alum, that's gotta be good

Pretty as a picture, I am beginning to really get attached to my bristle/boar brushes

    Great shave there Joe

(Yesterday Monday 22 Jul 2024: no shave day: saving it for today)

    Tue 23 Jul 2024

    Same as yesterday, repeat setup

Absolutely superb shave with the Schick type M, set on 3

Two passes and some touch ups was all I needed. Smooooooth as

This razor really suits my 2 day growth, under the nose, in the neck, around the adam’s apple apple, around the chin, everywhere!
The narrow flat head makes it easy to find the correct angle

It's like a Cartridge razor on steroids, and yet very safe at the same time, I suspect it would be an easy transition away from cartridges with much better results

The Schick blade on Day 2 felt as crisp as on Day 1

The Tabac, needless to say, is a great performer all round

The plan for tomorrow is for another non shave day, unless I wake up and can’t resist!

Hope you all had a super Tuesday

    Great shave, Chris!

I think you will find that that Schick injector blade will feel "as crisp as Day 1" for up to half a dozen shaves and will still give decent shaves several times after that. The average injector blade is good for anywhere from 10 to 15 shaves before it starts to feel tuggy.

    Thanks, Chris! It was good.

And regarding the Henson @NETWizz was using -- they really are good razors. I had one, sold it in a fit of downsizing when I (momentarily) decided I would only use my Supply injector rather than DEs in future, and now rather regret it. I have had other excellent razors that I sold or PIFed on and don't especially regret, but the Henson I do. I may end up buying another some day...

Thanks John, it was a surprise because I rarely used my SE on sequential days.
10 - 15 shaves! Is that good, or bad? Good from a $$ point of view. I do like to mix things up a bit, haven't ever managed the full 30 focus (fail!) but that could be one way to do that.
I normally remove my DE blades, give the razor a decent clean between shaves, rinse and hang up the blade to dry overnight.
Can't do that with a SE: hopefully leaving it in the razor for a week or more won't have any effect on the SE blade, right?

I read that a lot, downsizing regret!. Which Henson did you have? There are mild and less mild, I don't think my geriatric beard would do well with too mild of a choice.

Double thanks Chris. Unfortunately, Stirling Tsuka is not available at the moment on Stirling's website. It has popped up in the past, but Rod and Mandy may have decided against making it. If true, than it is a shame because it is a wonderful scent.

    Awesome repeat performance Chris.

Last night, I dropped my ShakeSharp and the post broke off. It no longer locks and clamps on the blade so it is rendered useless. It was a gift from a former member. I will still keep it as a museum piece.

Very good first effort with Proraso Shaving Foam this morning. I think I used a little too much so I'll ease up on it tomorrow. Clean and clear shave in all areas but one-The "Florida" side of S. Porcupine. I think I know what I did to cause the cut, so I'll try to ease off tomorrow. There, that's 2 things to watch out for tomorrow. One cuts, no Knicks, Polka-dots. One pass. The aftershave felt nice and cool at first, but that soon evaporated. Maybe the same as when I use Mennen Skin-Bracer? I'll have SB out later this week, so we'll see. No cologne today. Very Outstanding.

    July 23 SOTM Headshave

    Good morning.

    1959 Gillette Fatboy (9)
    Voskhod DE Blade (fresh)
    MrEE LE #10 Cashmere Brush
Captain's Choice North SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Dome Turf: 3 days

This time around I made sure that I headshaved with my usual 3 days growth. I loaded a new Voskhod blade in my Fatboy to tackle the dome turf. Did an error-free 3 pass for a cueball smooth result. Captain's Choice provides a very slick and easy lather. I would buy this brand again. Here is my lather:

Had negligible feedback from the alum. Finished with the splash of Witch hazel and the matching aftershave. Take care.

Well, we can live in hope...

I Liked your post, but not of course because you dropped your razor, more out of sympathy.

With DE razors, I usually loosen the razor (or open the doors if it's a TTO) and rinse it clean but leave the blade in. And with the injectors, I just rinse the razor as well as I can. Almost all the modern blades are coated stainless steel so leaving them a bit damp is not a concern.

I don't exactly remember, but I am fairly sure the Henson model I had was the slightly more aggressive one. Though actually "medium" or "slightly less mild" is probably a more accurate way to put it -- compared to many razors out there, it was still pretty mild.

Ow! Ow! Ow! That's painful. Sorry you had that happen to you. And it always seems to happen to the rare or special razor and never to the 15th ball-end Tech or 11th Schick "G" in the box....

You can never go wrong choosing either a Gillette FatBoy or a Voskhod blade!

I have wondered about Captain's Choice soaps and splashes. Good to hear an unbiased opinion on them. Not that I really need any more items in the shaving toybox.
