    July 30 SOTA Headshave and Faceshave

    Good afternoon.

    Straight Razor Shave #566
    Henckel's Friodur
    Gillette RedTip
    Gillette Wilkinson Sword DE Blade (4)
    Omega Pro 49 Boar Brush
    Pedro Fiasco's Limoncello SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 29 hrs
    Dome Turf: 46 hrs

    It was time for a head and face shave. Brought out my Friodur for the face and my RedTip for my dome. I decided to just do 2 passes on my dome and face plus touchups. I got dolphin smooth on the dome and just shy of BBS on the face and neck. However, I got a chin weeper. Hit it with alum, but the sicker kept at it. Of course, it eventually stopped.
    Pedro Fiasco Limoncello is Ariana and Evans low budget line of soaps, but it packs a punch above its cost. It's easy to lather and provides a nice slick medium. Here's my lather:

    Did get alum feedback on one side of the dome behind my ear, but that's it. Splashed on the witch hazel and the wonderful, citrusy matching aftershave. Take care.

    Days growth = 1

    Prep = 3 x Hot water soak
    Preshave = Proraso
    Cream/Soap = Sterling Bergamot Lavender
    Brush = Omega 10049
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor 1 = Gillette Tech
    Razor 2 = Gillette Tech made in Argentina
    Blade 1 = Big Ben (3)
    Blade 2 = VTG Gillette made in Australia (day 3)

    Passes = once again 3+ passes were needed to become respectable
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, cold water rinse, left over lather to the face, rinse, pat dry, Thayers
    ASL = Old Spice
    Scent = Santal Spirit EdT sandalwood
    Score = 9 / 10

    Damage = Small nick side of face in pass 1, mea culpa, I got careless/in a hurry and landed sideways on the runway! I got out the Styptic pencil in anticipation, but the cold water rinses dealt with the nick and the Styptic was not needed

    I rotated the Razor+blades combinations again to the other side of the face, this time the Argentinian Tech and the VTG Gillette blade started off on the right side again. Still performing well enough

    Blade comparison:

    Big Ben was a bit of a drag, especially in the 2nd pass so I finished the shave with the VTG Gillette on both sides of the face in pass 3 and touch ups

    Binned both blades, but the Gillette did fare better: especially on day 2 and 3. Interesting to be able to feel the difference “on the day” rather than from memory of previous shaves

    The Techs are nice, but I still feel I get much better shaves with other DE and SE razors

    One more Big Ben left in the tuck….

    Have a lovely Wednesday everyone

    It's been another interesting month at the 30Day/Rule focus den, thanks Joe @Trigger and all supporters

    A couple mental mistakes cost me from finishing out this set with 3 straight top marks. Well, one mental, one shave-related. The mental was in not letting the soap rest on my face and neck long enough before the first pass. . The shave mistake was in allowing for two cuts to develop. I think the first mistake led to the second. Shux. The Royal Copenhagen A.S. came in from the "bullpen" to save the overall shave, but it couldn't quite get rid of one of the cuts, down at Cactus Nation. This one gets a Kinda Outstanding.(It was better than Mediocre). Tough way to end the month.

    Good afternoon.

    Ted Pella Injector Blade (7)
    MrEE LE #10 Cashmere Brush

    Stirling Alum Block

    I decided to have an easy shave for the final day of July.
    Did 2 passes for a nice shave, but got another chin weeper. I guess that I was a smidgen too much pressure on my face. It disappeared with the cold water and alum. Tabac always performs well. Did not have any alum stings or zing. Applied the witch hazel and gave a generous portion of the TSD Irish Spring. I have 3/4 of a bottle left and since I used all the matching soap, then I figured why not. Take care.
