As usual, a nice intro to the month, Joe. (And, also as usual, I am late to the party.). I will probably do some variant of Just the Basics June. I may also do a few days using Jeeves of Hudson Street soaps and splashes. He made good stuff but I think ended up being one of the vendors who eventually fell by the wayside after a few years.

Thanks John. I realize that everyone has lives outside of this thread with some more busier than others. Some shave once or week or longer while others are daily shavers. There's no need to apologize John. I appreciate whenever you can post. Enjoy your day.

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

Sunday June 4 2023 - Just the Basics June

    Prep: hot water face wash
Razor: Merkur 34c / Israeli Personna Super Platinum (3)
    Brush: Simpson's Chubby 2 Synthetic
Soap: TOBS Lavender shaving cream (croap)
Post: Rinse, TSD Lavender Shave Milk

Last shave May 28, so a week ago.

The Merkur 34c is not the first DE razor I used -- that was an old Gillette of some kind, I don't really remember what... maybe a Tech? However, the Merkur 34c is one of the better basic razors out there and I have never regretted acquiring it.

After switching from electrics and starting first with a Gillette Trac II and canned shaving foam (didn't we all?), my first real wetshave was with a puck of Williams shave soap and a chintzy drugstore boar brush. My first "nice" shave product was a tub of TOBS shaving cream, Avocado if I recall correctly. It was a revelation and I have liked TOBS shave creams ever since. They are easy to lather, slick and protective, and have pleasant fairly uncomplicated scents. Lavender has been a favourite of mine for years.

There was nothing super high end or extremely expensive about today's shave. Just decent products that work well and are enjoyable to use.

The synthetic brush quickly face lathered the TOBS into a good protective coating, and the Merkur 34c with the IP blade wiped away my week's stubble in one good pass.

I went slower and more carefully than last time and avoided any new nicks or scrapes. I forgot to use the alum today, but doubt it would have shown me anything anyway.

The TSD Lavender shave milk has a very simple scent signature -- lavender essential oil and nothing else -- and good basic soothing and moisturizing ingredients.

Just a basic solid shave to start the week and the month's shaves.

I hope everyone had a good weekend and will have a great week.

My week actually got off to a rocky start yesterday with a dying cellphone and a broken molar. However, I found I have been on my cell plan long enough that I can just swap for a new "zero-down" phone tomorrow.

That leaves the molar to be fixed. I have a large filling in the molar and part of the remaining rim of tooth on the inner side of the molar just flaked off to just above the gum line. At least it isn't a break that is at all painful or needed immediate emergency treatment. And from past similar experience, it's a fairly easy fix -- I expect the dentist will have to remove the old filling and put a more extensive one in.

I am definitely making headway on finishing up this 1 oz sample of Stirling Intrepid Man.
I have to say that I have gotten plenty of shaves from these samples.
    Here's my lather:

I have to say that I have used Wilkinson Sword blades only for a short time, but I am impressed with them.

I did a three pass shave, instead of my normal two because I had enough lather and I am home relaxing with nowhere to go.
I got an error-free close and comfortable shave. The alum feedback was very slight. Splashed on the Proraso and I am satisfied with this session. Take cate.

Excellent shave and post John. Sorry about the crown, but like you said, it can be fixed. That's great that you got a good deal on the cellphone.
