    I'm glad you kept it going, Joe. Even though I don't post that often, it's a nice place to hang out, and I have learned a lot here. Not just shaving techniques, but honest, unbiased reviews of all sorts of new and vintage razors, blades, brushes, soaps, and balms and splashes. Plus odds and ends in the side conversations that crop up along the way...

    Thanks John. The TSD forums are great places to learn about wetshaving. The You Tube shave videos are great resources to supplement the knowledge that can be attained here.

    Herm2502 off to elf practice

    My particular madness this month will be a general focus on my 1958 Fat Boy, custom plated in black and white rhodium. (Perhaps it's now a "Black Handle Super Fat Boy"?). I've only used to it sparingly and want to get to know it better.

    Razor: 1958 Fat Boy
    Blade: Astra SP
    Brush: Jayaruh 326
    Soap: Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme

    Anyway, my madness is to start out with this razor on setting 9.

    Actually, today, I got a very nice DFS shave. No BBS, probably because I was being cautious. It was all good with no nicks, no blood, and no AS feedback. Only issue was that after using PDP #63, this soap is disappointing. It has absolutely no fragrance at all. Lathers well, slick as all getout, but nothing exciting for the old schnoz.

    I like your Madness plan Herm. I hate when soaps lose their scents. To remedy it, I would bowl Lather and then mix the matching aftershave with it. If you don't have the matching aftershave, then I guess you can use a similar aftershave or any aftershave for that matter. Btw, the razor looks really cool.

    Thanks for the advice. I never thought of mixing AS and a soap. I need some new AS, guess I need to go shopping!

    The razor was plated by Chris at Razorplate to my "design". He does nice work.
