Monday March 27 - middle shelf March

    Prep: hot shower
Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black injector with SE comb plate / Supply Black Label (3)
    Brush: Simpson's Chubby 2 synthetic
    Soap: TOBS Lavender cream (croap)
Post: Rinse, alum and TSD Lavender Shave Milk

Exact same setup as my last shave, which was ten days ago, so a short beard to mow.

This shave really was quick, smooth, and trouble-free. One pass - WTG on the face and ATG on the neck - sufficed to bring me back to cleanshaven.

My last shave "seemed" error-free but resulted in a bloody spot on my neck, probably from nicking a pimple. This shave really "was" error-free. No blood and the alum was silent.

I need to quit writing now as Ramses, my hefty Snowshoe Siamese, has joined me and is fighting for control of the stylus...

Didn't post yesterday, both shaves combined here, essentially the same focusing back to the MWF and Gillette Rocket.

Growth: 1 day each. Lather Bowl: white

    Brush:
--27th = Puro Tasso boar, like the way it splays and is so soft.
--28th = Old Vulfix Pure Badger. Been giving this the fridge and hair dryer treatment to soften it up a bit.

Razor: both days =Gillette 50s Rocket. Nice shaver! It inspires confidence.

    Blade:
--27th = Astra SP (2) still fine on day 2.
    --28th =Nacet (1)

    Cream/Soap:
--27th: MWF, heavy loading, adding water, huge amount of lather, seems like a waste. Great protection, though. Will try and load less next time.
--28th: MWF, loading a lot less, with a very dry brush, adding water. Still a bit bubbly, too thin.
    Post Shave: The usual
    Aftershave: Brut

    Passes:
--27th: usual 3 + touch ups. Great results, happy to report no damage.
--28th: 2 passes only and then some touch ups.
Trying to combine WTG and XTG on the cheeks and the top lip to reduce time spent shaving. Seems to be working OK.

Results: Good shaves both. No damage.
    Nicks: none
    Red spots:
---27th: left side of neck, too many touch ups ATG.
---28th: none, these have healed already.

    Success: Both very enjoyable/great shaves.

    Lessons learnt:
I still need to load more MWF with the brush. Consistency here seems to be a bit tricky at the moment. There seems to be a sweet spot I am missing. Think I need to stick to one soap / one brush.

It is easier to get around the chin with this nice Vintage Gillette vintage 50s rocket. Why would I want anything else?

    Astra SP blade (3).
Shore Shave Cool Water Mint Ribbon synthetic brush.
Lakewood Soap Company Smoky Mountain Rain soap (sample).
    Timeless Razor shave bowl.
Scottish Antique by Andy Hilfiger cologne.

Awesome shave this morning with the Sentinel head. The Astra seems to be a nice match for the head.....very smooth and efficient. The Sentinel is a real impressive head and I feel Yaqi has knocked it out of the park with this one. It reminds me a lot of a Ganechanger shave but just a tad smoother.

I did nick the old Adam's apple this morning.....not paying attention but I'll live.

Joe @JACarbone you need this head. ;)

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

Thanks Paul, I know the feeling but I Gotta Try! I don't have the discipline for a 30 day rule, but maybe a few days in a row will help iron out some glitches, shrug!

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Tuckmarr 5/8” Maccassar scales
Brush: Simpson Trafalgar T2 Sovereign Synthetic
Lather: Proraso Aloe and Vitamin E
Aftershave: Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux La Petite Prairie
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Lakewood Soap Company Prairie Song
    Balm

When it looks like the Proraso cream will meet up with the Edmund Fitzgerald either tomorrow or at the latest Thursday. I do enjoy the lather that I managed to produce with both the cream in the tube and the small tubs of Proraso that I have in my den. Will I repurchased the tube anytime soon. Perhaps in about 5 - 10 years as I have an abundance of soaps.

The Tuckmarr razor delivered a super close shave without any errors and sneaky ten minutes after the shave has been completed weepers. Love it!

Celebrating the missus birthday today therefore she will be treated to a lobster dinner courtesy of Chef Giuseppe. For dessert a selection of one of her favorites, Rainbow cookies.

Hope you all have a great day.

    Good afternoon.

    Straight Razor Shave #441
    5/8 C-Mon
Heritage Collection C-Mon Replica Super HD Badger Brush
    Stirling Triumph SS
    Pinaud-Clubman Classic AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs

    20230328_164218.jpg

It's been awhile since I used a straight. This C-Mon razor is über sharp and I should use it for a 2 day beard. I nicked my left cheek and caught a weep on my chin. I improperly landed on my cheek and the toe point bit me. The chin weeper was due to a little heavier touch of the razor. This all happened on my first pass. However, I did my second pass without a fuss. I have to say that it took awhile to stop the bleeding. LOL!
All in all, it was a good shave despite the mishaps. Surprisingly, the alum was silent even over the nick so it wasn't too bad of a boo-boo. Finished with the Pinaud-Clubman Classic aftershave. Take care.

Terrific shaves Chris! As far as lathering, I try to load the brush heavy. My rule is if you think you have enough soap on the brush, then you don't so keep loading until it's obvious that you do. Moreover, if for some reason you don't have enough lather on your face and neck, then go back to the puck to refresh the brush with more soap. You may have to add some water when you do.

Danny, just a great setup and shave. I am repeating myself, but that brush is simply gorgeous.
