Thank you Joe. You have a valid point with your Williams criticism. However, I find if I give it a bloom in hot water for a few minutes, then mix it for 30 seconds-1 minute the suds/bubbles thicken up into a workable lather, granted it's not a "Santa Claus" beard lather, but it doesn't dissipate on my face. I understand your criticism though, some people have the same problem with MWF/Kent which is one of my favourite shaving soaps. Enjoy your start to the weekend. Your-Barry.:happy088:

    Shavette Shave # 223

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Univinlions Feather SS
Blade: Kai Captain Pro Titan Pro Touch MG
    Brush: Opus Shaving Brushes “Underdog”
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: Stirling Satsuma
    Aftershave: Stirling Satsuma
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Superb Satsuma shave this morning. This scent, one of Joe’s, @Trigger, is very uplifting. Considering that I am battling a cold Satsuma does make one feel better. Although, I piping hot bowl or two of chicken soup or pasta fazool would hit the spot as well.

The Opus boar brush whipped up a nice lather. I am finding that the boar brush does a much better job of produce a voluminous Stirling lather than the synthetic brushes in my den. The synthetics seem to whip up a slightly thinner lather which is fine for my straight razor shaves. Of course the slickness of the Striling soaps is always at the forefront.

Three passes to super smoothness with out any astroturf and hiccups, aka polka dots, cut or knicks. The Kami Shavette is an interesting razor to use. It just takes time to get the right touch dialed in. A solid performer.

    Have a great Saturday gentlemen.

I add a few drops of glycerin to the lathering bowl. This step seems to help.

Yes, glycerin does improve lathers. However, why add an extra expense and step when there are soaps that produce great lathers without doing so?

Went with a mug soap shave and used the Schick E-3 Injector. Three passes gave me an error-free BBS shave. Alum feedback was on my lower, left neck. Splashed the witch hazel and the cool, soothing Aqua Velva Ice Blue aftershave. Nice and easy shave. Tomorrow, I may use one of my straights. Take care.
