As always Chris, opinions are very subjective. My personal take on the Yaqi DOC Mellon aggression is mild-middle. Reviews that I've read are that the Razorock SLOC v1 & v2, the Yaqi DOC Mellon & the PAA DOC design are all taken from the original idea (Grand shave king self lubricating razor) was that the slots of the cap held water (not soap) to help lubrication while shaving. Apparently, the PAA DOC is the mildest out of the three, again,it's another case of a YMMV opinion. What I will say about the Yaqi DOC Mellon is it performs best using a steep shaving angle,"for me anyway", which is my personal natural shaving angle due to most of my DE razors are parkers, which require a steeper shaving angle to get the best from them. Last but not least, If the Yaqi DOC Mellon head is fitted with an aggressive blade then it instantly feels & performs more assertively, like most mild-middle aggression DE razors.

    Yours-Barry.

Real nice shave today(Sun). Great brushwork at the Loading Dock, setting up the Stoylin Oro Valley soap. Clean&Clear all over. OV ranks right up there with my favorite of Doc Ezlovan's soaps. That Wild West feeling :). 2 healthy passes. No damage. Clubman Special Reserve A.S. for the finish. Nice feel. I call this "Ed Pinaud Goes West" :). I'll get the Doc's new regular-sized Oro when I finish this 3.0 size. As Outstanding As It Gets.

As you can see, I have been letting my dome turf and beard stubble go longer than I have been since I started wetshaving 6.5 years ago. My previous stubbles and turns were long, but not like today. I guess this is my idea of March Madness. Lol!

I shaved my face this morning and did my headshave this afternoon, so I would call this a split shave session.
I only needed 2 passes on dome and face to get a nice, smooth shave. Did get a weep on my left corner of my mouth from my shavette. Alum feedback was evident on neck, but nowhere else. Splashed on the aftershave and I am good to go. Take care.

    March Madness

    Razor - Ever Ready SE/Merkur 23c
Blade - Gem Blue Star (2)/Astra SP (1)
Soap - Stirling Iced Coffee (original)/Arko
    Brush - 30DC 2019 Meetup Badger/Boar/Omega 10066 Boar

It's truly madness that I haven't shaved in three days. But, Sunday is here and it's time for a face and head shave. For the face shave I went with the Ever-Ready and Gem Blue Star carbon blade on its second run. I found my old container of Stirling's original Iced Coffee. I also have one of the new versions that I haven't tried yet. Thought I'd use the old timer as I always loved it. Chose the hybrid badger/boar brush and worked the soap to get it going again. Added water until it started responding and found its footing again. Good lather and great scent is still there. I went two passes with the SE and loved the sound of that carbon blade singing with three days beard on. Great finish to that one with a near perfect ending and all was smooth and alum was quiet when I checked.

On to the head shave with the usual Merkur 23c, Astra SP and Arko. The Omega brush gave me gallons of lather and I chromed the dome with no issues at all.

Glad to say we survived all the weather that blew through here Friday night. Colder today, back into the 70s tomorrow. Gotta love life in STL.
