    30 MAY 2024

    Days growth = 1
    30a May 2024 1600 90.jpg
    Prep = 3 x hot water soak
    Preshave = Proraso cypress and Vetyver
    Cream/Soap = Sterling Agar (finally finished)
    Brush = Pura Setola
    Bowl = Timeless

    Razor 1 = Lady Eversharp
    Blade 1 = Schick (?) day 5

    Razor 2 = Schick Hydromagic
    Blade 2 = Schick SE Proline B-20 SS (1)

    Passes = 2+
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, CWR, Thayers
    ASL = Virgin Island Bay rum
    Damage = none

    Interesting to compare these 2 razors back to back, swapping each side of the face after the first pass

    Both blades felt equally sharp and smooth

    30b May 2024 1600 90.jpg

    The Lady Eversharp has a broader cap: I like that once you lay this flat it kind of sucks against the face while the blade does its job. The Hydromagic is narrower and feels different from this perspective. I guess the Gems etc will have a similar effect with the really broad cap. Can’t recall this from my limited use of them, something to tackle in the next few weeks

    However, as mentioned earlier the Lady Eversharp’s spring isn’t quite as tight, so care needs to be taken the blade is secure. May be better with Schick II. The shorter handled Hydromagic is more manoeuvrable around the tight spots. Both perform really well for me.

    Super shave either way

    Agar is finished
    Back to DE and some TOBS Oud next shave

    Have a great Thursday ladies and gents

    SE Shave # 389 - ECF Shave - Game 5

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Shick - Injector Type J
    Blade: Personna Injector
    Brush: Leo Frilot Custom NYR 26 mm Synthetic
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: Pre de Provence No. 63
    Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Unconditional Surrender Toner
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Pre de Provence No. 63 Balm

    We have a cool, crisp morning here on LI this morning. Following an intense X3Bar Back & Leg workout I was treated to a wonderful injector shave.

    The Pre de Provence No. 63 paired nicely with the Chatillon Lux Unconditional Surrender. The CL website has a suggested pairings for their aftershaves/toners with a variety of soap artisans.

    Three passes with the injector has left my face super smooth. I am smelling quite good. I am ready for another fun filled shopping adventure with my mother. It is never dull.

    Hope you all have a great day.

    Thank you Chris. The Proraso bowl is an old one that I was gifted two by an visiting Italian client inspector where I work a few years back I gave him 4 Palmolive shave sticks in return it's still has it's scent and lathers up superbly.

    IMG_20240504_233324_kindlephoto-963676277.jpg

    Again, I had more of a break between shaves this time than I am aiming for this month.

    Testing injector blade durability -- shave 7 on the vintage Schick blade. The blade is as smooth as ever but not quite as sharp. Not at all tuggy, but not whisking my face quite as clean anymore. Even two passes no longer leave me near BBS. Instead, while I am visibly cleanshaven, I can now still feel a faint roughness when rinsing my face.

    The Arko stick and synthetic brush created the usual quick and plentiful lather. I then did my two standard passes of WTG on the face and ATG on the neck, then XTG on the face and WTG on the neck.

    The two passes resulted in an error-free DFS. I had no nicks, cuts or visible razorburn, and the alum was silent. I had no real need for any post-shave products but decided to splash on some bay rum before heading out on errands. I misted myself with the Thayers Witch Hazel first to provide some cushion against the burn of the double-strength bay rum.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

    Very nice shave Gary. Evan did make nice brushes. It's a shame that he just dropped off the face of the Earth. Good guy, that's for sure.
