    Today is a non-shave day. I am leaning toward a shavette shave for tomorrow morning. I haven't decided on what soap that I will use. Maybe, I will sink the Van der Hagen Soap that's in my apothecary mug. It's up in the air at the moment.

    Days growth = 1

    Pre work shave: (a repeat of 23 March, too bad I didn’t consult my notes beforehand)

    Prep = warm water soak
    Preshave = Proraso Cypress and Vetyver
    Cream = TOBS Oud. Didn’t add any Glycerine this time
    Brush = Chubby 2
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Gillette NEW long OC
    Blade = Bolzano (2)
    Passes = 2 ++
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, CWR, Thayers
    ASL = PR Barbe Dure with some Oud oil
    Scent = Black Oud

    Damage = Once again, an annoying weeper left lower cleft of chin. However, only the 5th occurrence of some damage for the month of May, onwards and upwards!

    Cold water and Alum controlled the scrape

    Comment from 23 March: “I think the TOBS and an OC don’t really mix. I should leave the OC for thicker soaps like Tabac, Sterling, and yes, I have yet to come back to my MWF at some stage”

    I concur. After some excellent shaves the Single Edge razors over the last week or so, this was mildly disappointing. Took some re-adjustment to the NEW OC, the Bolzano I know as efficient. Maybe my face took a beating from the SE razors, maybe I just lost focus, maybe indeed I need to restrict the softer croaps or creams to Close Comb razors

    Either way, a great shave, great start to the day, another lesson learnt, if not exactly remembered from the first time!

    Thanks Joe, even the small sample tub takes ages to finish, never mind the full size tubs!

    Thanks Gary

    Thank you Sir

    Enjoy the non-shave day Joe, never a bad idea once in a while

    Good morning.

    Shavette Shave #551
    Parker SRS
    Derby Professional 1/2 DE Blade (3)
    Barbury Synthetic Brush
    Pedro Fiasco's Limoncello SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 34.5 hrs

    I wanted a shavette shave to end the month of May so my stainless steel Parker got the call. Have to say that I am impressed with the Derby Pro blades. They are sharp, but smooth. Did an error-free three passer for a very close, smooth comfortable result. For some reason, my skin looks more youthful. I am not complaining. Lol! Pedro Fiasco's Limoncello has that wonderful citrus scent to brighten the shave and makes a great lather. Here it is:

    The alum feedback was negligible. Did my normal post shave application of the witch hazel and the aftershave. This was a nice shave to finish the month. Take care.

    Fine shave and I like the way you think through the process. Although the lather is an essential part of shaving, the technique is most important. I have found that different razors require a slight change, especially going from one type to another. It's why we recommend doing a 30 day focus for a troublesome razor. In any event, I applaud your wonderful progress Chris. Remember, everyone cuts themselves no matter how long they have been shaving. Unfortunately, there are shavers who frequently do so.

    Hard for me to describe today's shave as it was with the same stuff as yesterday and as I was equally happy with the result. I'll once again compliment the Dove 4 Men Bodywash...I think it comes close to comparing to that of Stoylin. They're great setups. The Barbasol(and my "technique")provided for zero cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots again. There was a slight challenge to Norhtwest Porcupine(under right nostril)-I need to be comfortable with razor direction there. I got the whiskers, but had to work a little at it. The Bill Neumann A.S. followed by Spirit Millionaire cologne to close out another As Outstanding As It Gets shave.
