Looks like we both had great shaves today! I think the VDH soaps are underrated. I used them when I started out as they were everywhere. Now they seem to be gone from store shelves in my area...

Thanks Scott. Van der Hagen was one of my first soaps because their razor started my journey into wetshaving. I agree that it is under rated. The puck is under $5 for 2.5 oz so it's very economical. Now, it may not be a top quality soap, but the performance is pretty good for my case use. I think you can get the soap in Target or a local supermarket.

I think I'm finally getting the lather in a bowl down to the slickness I need. I just keep adding water until I get a nice dense and shiny lather then paint it on and also dip the tip of the brush in the sink and make it work. It has been an adventure, but since I'm only shaving my neck and cheeks about 3X a week, its not a hardship.

Excellent setup Troy. It's almost the same method as mine. I like my lather in the thin side because I find it much slicker. It's a similar concept of a slick thin layer of black ice.

    Razor: Taylor Eyewitness 1000
    Brush: Jayaruh 329 Boar
Lather: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum
Aftershave: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

An outstanding shave with a soap that I have not used in a while. Super amount of slick lather with plenty to spare if I wanted to do a head shave.

This scent of the Thor’s Hammer aftershave is nice and not overpowering. That being said, I do enjoy the complimenting splash of the soap. I just ran out a whole ago.

Hope you all had a great day.

    Greetings,

A great comfortable shave to finish my shaving week off.

The dependable Palmolive classic shave cream provided a slick protective lather in a short space of time.... When ever I mention to family and friends that 'I still wear Denim' I get some vague interesting looks and comments....Not that this concerns me in the slightest, the younger chaps that I work with don't understand the greatness of Denim which is a pity, but it's their loss if they can't appreciate a classic 'Old School' fragrance...That's my excuse anyway.

A comfortable 2 pass + pick ups silky smooth shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of Denim Original ASL.

My face is feeling smooth & smelling divine.;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

    Great Shaves guys.

That's one heck of a pile of lather Joe. I can see why you head shavers all use bowls....

Wonderful setup, pic and shave Barry! As I was reading your post, I thought you were talking about blue jeans. Lol! The significance of a picture is worth a thousand words was quite evident in making clear your meaning. Alas, I never heard of Denim aftershave. Enjoy your day!
