    Greetings,

    (Face & Head Shave)

A new eclectic shave set up to start the weekend....Carrying on for another week using the Gillette Shave Foam...in my previous weeks shaves I used the the Gillette Original Scent Shave Foam (Red) this week I've used the sensitive (Green) which I didn't notice any real difference in the same shaving performance as the (red). The only slight difference is the scent of the (green) can which to my nose has a light musky/sandalwood fragrance. What was important was the foam mixed up into an acceptable slick protective lather. The foam comes to life with the addition of the added water and bowl lathering.

It's been a while since I've last used the parker 24C which is very smooth & comfortable to use I like the long hefty grippy handle... The only differences between the 24C are is the FG is slightly more efficient than the 24C and found you have to apply a steeper shaving angle with the 24C like all my parker DE razors.

An enjoyable comfortable face & head shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Boots Freshwood ASB.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine. ;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

    Super shaves and pics gentlemen,

Catching up with the 1st week of October, theme for the week was Only One October and Omega

Been doing a mini focus: One Blade per Shave, One Shave per blade
Fresh blade for each shave, generally 48 hr growth
Working my way through my Barber Shop Sterling sample with the same Omega brush and sticking with the Gillette HD

    Gillette Platinum
    Voskhod
    Feather
    Permasharp

All performed really well, so can't complain!

Although I can take blades to day 2 or 3 I really don't like the scraping as they get duller
Starting with a fresh blade focuses the mind and allows better comparison (from the end of the life of one blade to the start of the next can lead to bias)
However being consistent with my hardware and software has helped define one reason for what feels like a suboptimal blade and that is less than slick lather, I am tending towards getting this more on the wet side, really nice

It looks like it is only surface pitting, so a polish and replate ought to set it right.

Do you always load in a circular motion, Paul? Personally, I’m a back and forth, i.e., up and down (or top to bottom, if you prefer) loader. But never left to right. Don’t know why… what is this Bill Neumann soap of which you speak? I’m unfamiliar.

Fine shave this morning. It was all Oud(as it should be for the week-ends of this month). The DURING was not as good as the POST. DURING the shave, I didn't get much soap out. I should have swirled harder with the brush. I blame the light soap amount for the cuts(2)I got. One on Cactus, one on S. Porcupine. I did a much better jon of that in the second pass. I still didn't swirl the soap like it owed me money, but still faster than the first time. No problems this time. I forgot how much A.S. can come out if you aren't careful with the Agadir. Will remember that tomorrow. Pretty Outstanding. Hope to do better tomorrow with same.

Bill Neumann compsny's real name is Wm. Neumann&Co.(see where I got Bill?? :). Great family ownership history. The stuff is expensive, but worth it. I have Heartwood(soap&A.S)and Signature 1907(A.S.). As for swirling, when the soap amount gets smaller I do different varities, as you suggest. That helps me get ALL of what remains.

"Your Mission, should you choose to accept it, is to shower, shave, dress and be ready for work in five minutes.."

    Mission accepted.

In practice, this means three minutes for the shower and one minute to dress, leaving a whole minute for the shave...

This is where a latherless gel really shines as smearing it over the face and neck can be completed in about ten seconds. One rapid pass WTG everywhere removed the four-day stubble, leaving me looking respectably cleanshaven. I rinsed off, skipped all the usual post-shave niceties, and was ready to go.

I couldn't have matched that time with my old electric - and I would have had a case of razorburn to boot.

It's the Thanksgiving long weekend here, so I am going to dinner later today at my sister's. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Brush: Sawdust Creation Studio Malle Burl
    Lather: Lather Bros. Calle Ocho
    Aftershave: PAA Black Bot
    Additional Care:

Two busy days with the help of two great shaves. The Calle Ocho is all set for its appoint with the Edmund Fitzgerald on Tuesday.

Both three pass shaves provided stellar results. Today, I traveled with the family to Pittsburgh for tomorrow’s Steelers game. Always a good time. It does help if they win as the missus is in a much beetle frame of mind.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

    Good afternoon.

    Straight Razor Shave #494
    5/8 Dovo Special
Rockwell 6C (setting 4) for the headshave
    Gillette Wilkinson Sword (?)
    Barbury Synthetic Brush
    Lakewood Lard Lass SS
    Fine Accoutrements Platinum AS
    Stirling Alum
    Block Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs
    Dome Turf: 3 days

    20231007_165713.jpg

Picked out my Dovo Special as I am marching towards 1000 open blade shaves and 500 traditional straight razor shaves. I chose Lakewood Lard Lass Soap because it's slick and provides a nice, rich lather. I am also near the end of this sample. Thanks Joe C.
    Here's my lather:

    20231007_170315.jpg

I did a 2 pass shave on my face and a 3 pass shave on my dome. Did get a little blood from the cut on a previous headshave, but no biggie. It's healing quite nicely. There were no cuts on my face and neck. I got BBS on the dome and near BBS on the face shave.

The alum was silent all around. Splashed on the witch hazel and then the F/A Platinum aftershave to finish. Tomorrow, I will use my Dovo Best Quality straight razor. Take care.
