    Good afternoon.

    Shavette Shave #494
    Parker SRB
Gillette Wilkinson Sword 1/2 DE Blade
    JR #386 Silvertip Badger Brush
Captain's Choice North SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs

I went with my other shavette and that was the Parker. I also picked out the Captain's Choice North soap and aftershave. It seems the more I use it; the easier I pick up the juniper scent. It's not overbearing, but it is still nice. Here's my lather:

Yes, I was able to use this brush based on GeoFatboy's hack solution. Here's the video. You can stop at the 2:10 mark because he goes into other handy tips.

I used the heavy duty brown napkins from 7-11 and it worked like a charm. I want to see how long this lasts. I had the brush on a stand and the knot is still in place. At least I can still use this brush until I properly fix it.

Anyway, I did an error-free 3 pass shave that was comfortable and smooth. The alum feedback confirmed my results. Finished this shave in my usual manner.. Take care.

  13. Tuesday October 3 - Open Comb, Old Cream October

Prep: Hot shower with Aleppo soap
Razor: Supply 2.0 injector with SE comb plate / vintage US-made Schick Plus Platinum (10)
Soap: Neutrogena Skin Clearing Shave Cream
    Brush: none
    Lather Bowl: none
Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Portland General Store Willow tonic
Last shave: Thursday - 5 days

    IMG_20230911_171014_kindlephoto-64099265.jpg

Keen observers will note that the lineup for my "Open Comb, Old Cream October" shave looks suspiciously like the lineup for my "S is for Skin-Clearing September" shaves. That's because it is. It is "traditional" among shaving supply vendors to "re-brand" razors, blades, brushes and soaps and creams. So I decded there was no reason why I couldn't "re-brand" my shaving setup for the new month.

This shave was identical to my last couple shaves in September and worked just as well. My new shaving pattern of doing a downward WTG stroke on my neck rather than the upward ATG one leaves me with much less irritation. It leaves more stubble untouched, but a second XTG pass takes care of that, still without irritation.

Hope everyone is on track to have a great week!

  19. I'm sending the Toggle off for a revamp/replate via Razor Emporium. I'll use it when it gets back. And it will take a 30 day rule to get used to the adjustable and find my sweet spot. I didn't enjoy it this morning, but at 8:30 p.m., I barely have stubble, so it was a close shave.

    Prep: Shower
    Lather: Bigelow
    Brush: Synthetic
    Razor: Gillette Toggle (5)
    Blade: Astra (1)
Post: Alum (lots of feedback) and TSD Lime

I'll have to give it an honest go. I do enjoy the weight of the razor, but need to learn the angle and setting for the various parts of my face.
