Another fine shave this morning. Another minute at the Loading Dock. The Razorock brush really did me well, setting me up for the shave. At the first of my 2 passes, it felt like I had a Knick, but it was washed away by the cold-water rinse and A.S. No other negative issues. I should have done better at the jawline just above Central Cactus Nation...will look into improving on that tomorrow. Pleased overall. Most Outstanding.

BY the way, while I was away, I snuck in a Bill Neumann shave(two days)...kind of a precursor to "Neumann November".

Thanks Chris. This upcoming appointment is to do a more intense examination of my mouth. The real work will begin after this appointment.

October 23 SOTA Head and Face Shave

    Good afternoon.

    GEM MMOC
    GEM SE Blade (3,4)
    MrEE Tuxedo Brush
    PAA/King R Emporium SS
    Pinaud-Clubman Classic AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs
    Dome Turf: 4 days

    20241023_160419.jpg

I definitely needed a headshave so I decided to go with the MMOC to shave the dome and face. Did 3 passes on the face and 2 on the dome with minor touchups for a BBS result all around. However, did get a weep on the crease on the back of my neck. The cold water and alum took care of it.
I went with the PAA/King R Emporium soap. Here's my lather:

    20241023_160750.jpg

I had some significant alum feedback on my neck. Splashed on the witch hazel and the Pinaud-Clubman Classic aftershave to finish this session. Take care.

Wednesday October 23 (evening) - Odds and Ends / Open Comb October

Prep: Hot shower with Aleppo olive oil soap w/ 20% bay laurel oil (traditional anti-acne)

Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black stainless steel injector w/ SE open comb "nick-proof" plate / Supply Black Label (1)

Soap: Crown Shaving Co. Shave Cream

Brush: APShaveCo Elegant Emerald with 24mm AP Luxury bulb (badger/boar mix)

    Lather Bowl: None

Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Crown Shaving Co Soothing After Shave Lotion

Last shave: Thursday noon - 6 days

    The setup:

    IMG_20241023_180703.jpg

I went back to my trusty Supply 2.0 injector with the SE comb plate loaded with a fresh Japanese-made Black Label blade. And I enjoyed a superb shave!

I used the Crown Shaving Co. shaving cream. It's vegan but gives excellent glide and protection and has a pleasant spearminty scent. I dipped the brush into the soft shave cream expecting it to be like the croaps I have used lately and ended up with far too much cream on the brush. Nothing a little (or a lot of) judicious scraping of the brush against the rim of the tub couldn't fix. After face lathering, I still ended up with enough lather in my brush for about six passes though.

I was back to socially acceptable cleanshaven after just one pass WTG, but did a second pass XTG to get to DFS. Not BBS but I rarely try for that - close to it is good enough.

Alum was mildly warm but without any real hotspots. I didn't really need any aftercare but used the matching balm for completeness.

Hope October is treating everyone well so far.

I had a pleasant birthday visit with my brother. He flew in on Thursday and out again on Sunday. Spent most of Friday at his conference but otherwise spent the time with me and with our older sister and her college-age daughter who both also live in Saskatoon.

    Great shave and pic, Barry!

The Fatip Grande is one of those solid, well-made razors that just feel good in the hand and are a pleasure to use. I find it a bit agressive so you have to pay attention to what you are doing but I never felt mine was just waiting for a chance to slice me to ribbons.

    Thanks, Barry.

I gave up on BBS years ago. I found the absolute smoothness vanished after a few hours but the razorburn from achieving it lasted a lot longer than that.
