    Nice Gary:
    If you like it, you like it, no excuses needed. New stuff is fun but I also enjoy shaving with well used razors

    Superb shine to the lather there Joe!

    Public Holiday here in Western Australia (King’s Birthday, what ho!)

    Sample soap, SE razor Gem B-bar this time, Sterling soap, Satsuma, Lime Sec, Sandalwood

    2 Days growth

    Usual prep and still sticking with the Satsuma: I will miss the scent when it's finally done and dusted
    Blade = GEM (2)
    Passes = 2 +
    Score = 9.8 / 10
    Damage = none, overall great shave, bit tricky to get into the cleft between the lower lip and chin with this razor. Oblique and WE/EW work well enough on the upper lip though. The G-bar feels safer than the Clog-Pruf I think

    Really good start to the week on a Public Holiday

    Very good shave this morning. The Barbasol came out like a cloud, the way I like a canned shave to come out. Makes me wonder if/when my Rise will EVENTUALLY do that, like my other Rises did. Back to Barbasol, clean and clear everywhere but central Cactus Nation, wherre I left a little too much Astroturf(hairs) there. Zero cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. I gave the Stephan Bay Rum A.S. a few good shakes before splashing it on my face and neck. This helps whatever clove scent there is blend in nicely with the others. Nie and smooth all over. I'll do better at central Cactus tomorrow. Super Duper Outstanding.

    Monday Sept 23 (morning) - SE Supply, Synthetic, Semogue, Stirling and styptic September

    Prep: Hot shower with Aleppo olive oil soap w/ 20% bay laurel oil (traditional anti-acne)

    Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black stainless steel injector w/ SE "nickproof" comb plate / Personna white box (8)

    Soap: Stirling Scots Pine Sheep

    Brush: Semogue SOC cherrywood badger re-knotted with APShaveCo Tuxedo synthetic

    Lather Bowl: None

    Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Stirling Scots Pine splash, styptic pencil

    Last shave: Wednesday morning - 5 days

    The setup:

    IMG_20240906_173749_6_kindlephoto-381016627.jpg

    The result: excellent overall

    I smelled both the Stirling Vanilla Espresso Bean and Bay Rum. Both smelled wonderful and I couldn't make up my mind which to use ... so I stayed with the Scots Pine Sheep...

    I had a 5 day growth of stubble to remove. The synthetic brush did the usual superb job face lathering the Stirling sheep soap. Then I did two passes with the injector razor - one WTG and the second XTG everywhere. The result was DFS-level smoothness.

    I did have a bloody scrape again today, this time on my right upper lip. I was surprised by it since I noticed nothing unusual while shaving. However, examining the area, I think I might have exfoliated another pimple there. The alum rub and cold rinse failed to stop the mild bleeding, but the styptic pencil sealed it off.

    But I must say, lately I do seem to be acquiring a bit of a history of bloody nicks with this "nick-proof" razor...

    Hope everybody had a good weekend and will have a great week!

    thank you Chris.:):eatdrink047: i agree.this does shave like a newer looking example.:)if it were the nickel plated version the plating would still be intact.unfortunately the gold plating on this era razors really suffered,thin and patchy at best,just add age and use..;)

    September 23 SOTE

    Good evening.

    Schick G2
    Schick Injector Blade (4)
    JR #290 Cashmere Brush
    Pasteur's Pharmacy Gotham The Five Points
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 32 hrs

    I picked the G2 Schick Injector because it's almost 2 months since I used it..
    3 error-free passes gave me a close and comfortable shave.. Today's Soap was from Pasteur's Pharmacy Gotham The Five Points. I received this sample in a goodie bag when I was at their Octobershave Meetup in 2023. This was the first time I used it. Here is the description of the scent notes: Dupe of Baccarat 540. An Amber Floral fragrance for women and men. The top notes are Saffron and Jasmine; the middle notes are Amberwood and Ambergris; the base notes are Fir Resin and Cedar.
    Honestly, the soap provided a nice, creamy lather, but I didn't care for the scent.
    Here's my lather:

    Did get one zing from the alum. Finished with the witch hazel and Pinaud Clubman Classic aftershave. Take care.
    PS. I forgot to take a pick of my setup.

    Great shave report and pic, Gary.

    I seem to have missed a lot of shave supply makers and products in the last few years. I don't really know much about a lot of the newer ones. Who or what is Opal? It looks like a nice brush. Is the handle partly wood and partly resin or all resin?

    Sounds like a good shave, Joe. The Schick Gs always worked well for me. Actually most of the Schicks do except for the adjustable "M" -- the adjustment never seemed to do much for me.

    Is that Jayaruh brush an oak handle? The grain sort of looks like oak to me.

    I don't have the greatest sense of smell, so most of the fancier and more complex soap/splash scents are rather lost on me. I like simple and straightforward "one-note" variants - lavender, sandalwood, bay rum, pine, etc. Once the descriptions start to say "top notes of a,b, and c with middle notes of d, e, and f and base notes of x and y", I am pretty much out of there...

    thank you John.:):eatdrink047: the brush is a french vintage brand,most likely 50s-70s,resin? lucite.originally a french boar.was NOS but felt it deserved a nice badger so our Keith @Enrico transplanted one before he sent it my way.:)

    Thanks, Joe.

    More likely either hitting a pimple or just plain sloppy technique on my part. Although I have drawn blood twice in a row with this blade now... It has several shaves on it, so I may just bin it to be on the safe side.
