Thanks Joe, I bought it at the beginning of my wet shaving outing because it looked the part
Unfortunately it never performed well in my novice hands at the time, but with time I have to like it more and more, thanks to all the good advice and mentorship from TSD and this threads participants

    Wonderful error free shave
Free food, just as wonderful ! :)

    Classy pic Gary

Ever the avid historian, those flare tips do have a nice look to them

Well done with the MMOC Barry

Silky error free result once again

It's always fun to shave with a vintage (almost antique) razor and come out on top. Top marks!

    (Single Use DE Blade)

    2 days growth

    Cold water shave

Usual prep then Maca Root & Aloe + Synthetic Brush

Gillette Platinum day 1 and done

Seems a bit wasteful, but I will stick with my Single Use DE Blade focus this month

I figure that's the best way to compare them. Once a blade smooths out a bit, one can get a bit slack in the technique department. Also once it dulls then it seems unfair to compare it back to back to a different but fresh blade. I have enough blades for years and years so one month of extravagance won't hurt

Muhle R41 open comb Grande (92 grams)
    Another nice and heavy razor

Blade felt a bit rougher than I remember, but ‘twas a heavy razor, which likely added to the effect. Despite very light strokes, I felt a bit roughed up around the chin, no blood, Alum reinforced the need to be more careful next time. ;)

    Whiskey Woods. Haircut.

Family lunch outing, not free I am afraid, but just as enjoyable

    Super day :)

Wonderful shave set up Chris. As you know The Bodyshop Maca Root & Aloe is one of my favourites. With you using the Muhle R41, you've inspired me to do a "Open Comb - tober" focus next month with my OC DE razors, starting off withe the efficient Muhle R41.

    Aaaand, another Throwback Thursday shave:

    prep-Nivea 4 Men Bodywash(in shower)
    lather-Barbasol Original Cream*
    razor-Gillette Sensor Deuce Pivot DisposeABLE
    A.S.-Gabels (drops of)Lime**

    *-1919
    **-1932

Not the best of my Throwback shaves, but it was OK. I skipped over the middle of the right cheek. Uncharacteristic of this writer! All else was fine. One pass. Nice work with the Gabels A.S. Fairly Outstanding. I'll do better tomorrow.

The one I got for my dad's birthday on November 16th looks like this model with all the case identical only says F 2 on the bottom plate that looks original to the model without being modified. I believe the model is an F 2 from the factory due to how the letters/numbers look so is it possible the L 2 1966 design without lines in the twist knob came out earlier then we think?

The model I have from e-Bay listing picture is the model below this picture and they never showed the letters in the pictures online.

You can see why I had to spend 1 hour cleaning the shaver as the shave foam and green were hampering the model from functioning. Same with the crap in the twist knob hole just gumming up the works.

ok,so 1958(d-1) to early 1960(f-1) have lines on the twist knob and f-2 and later do not.d-1 to d-3 U.S flaretips have the TV SPECIAL type handle knurling without lines on the handle, but lines on the twist knob,so D-4 to F-2 have regular looking knurling with lines, small section above twist knob and crimp, and lines on the twist knob.

Today's shave at 8:45 to 8:56 am was a 9/10 because I had to go quick after my shower on dial 5 but the shaver blade is near the end. Today is shave 14 on the bottom 28 overall with the same King C Gillette blade on its last day of use. This blade is at the end of its life due to fact I have replaced the blade with a bought in 2017 Personna 100 pack made in USA model I have more blades for and will use the Personna 100 pack made in USA I bought in late 2017. I had to go back over areas I felt the blade was doing nothing in dial 5 but still used dial 5 then dial 6 with no affect so I stopped.

I used as always, my H 2 Gillette Adjustable slim handle shaver without the case.

Today I shaved after the shower but remembered to keep the blade/head wet while shaving.

    :thanks:

I knew at one point the 1960 F-2 or F-3 on the standard no color knob Super Speed had switched designs for the shaver just not sure what, people say It had to do with the knob online. B&B seems to do gatekeeping of info on the site as if all you need to do is sift through the site open since 2008 that is a bigger site then The Shave Den. B&B seems to be into starting threads for fanboys of X blade or X shaver with the hashtags like B&B does with less hording info/saying it is on the site just look then on The Shave Den. Basically reviews of shavers seems to be the biggest trend along with Fanboys of X blade or X shaver with.

Today's shave was a 9.5/10 because I got a new blade out from the Personna 100 pack made in USA I bought in late 2017. I had a few micro mini cuts due to a new blade because dial 1 is so mild I need dial 2 to start off with. I did get a true BBS today though so this is why my rating is a 9.5/10 Today is shave 1 on the top with the Personna 100 pack made in USA I bought in late 2017.

I used as always, my H 2 Gillette Adjustable slim handle shaver without the case.

Today I shaved before the shower but only kept the blade/head wet while shaving to give the most feel with a new blade, probably could have used water and/or a thin layer of my homemade shave soap/lotion concoction on face.

Sept 5 SOTM Head and Face Shave

    Good afternoon.

    King C Gillette DE Razor
    Dorco ST 300 DE Blade (2, 3)
    Rockwell Synthetic Brush
Captain's Choice 45th Parallel SC and AS Stirling Alum Block
    Lucky Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 2 Days
    Done Turf: 7 days

    20250905_101336.jpg

I desperately needed a headshave to go with my face shave so I picked the King C Gillette razor. It's a mild tool and with the blade relatively new; I knew that it would be up to the task. Two passes on my face and three passes on the dome gave me a great shave all around. It helped that it was bloodless.

I picked the 45th Parallel cream because of the wonderful scent and the ease of making lather. Unfortunately, I didn't make enough to give me a third pass on the dome so I used the witch hazel to give me the slickness to shave the remnants.

    20250905_101906.jpg

I had very little alum feedback all around. Splashed the witch hazel and the wonderful matching aftershave to end this marvelous session. I will catch up with your replies tonight. Take care.

Another fabulous shave with DG/CL Lamplight Penance. Three passes with the straight left my face absolutely smooth and velveteen.
