    Couple of things to consider. I polish my handles before I set the knot. When you epoxy in the knot, just apply a very small amount to the bottom of the hole, put the knot in, pull it out and see how well the epoxy spreads across the bottom of the knot. Add epoxy a bit at a time until you get good coverage across the bottom of the knot. That way it will not squish up into the hair. Remember you are not lifting a truck with it, you just need to get enough glue contact to hold the knot in place. What is the worst that can happen? The knot falls out and you glue it back in. If you need to protect the sides of the hole (like in a wood handle) just use a toothpick to spread a very thin layer on the sides before you do your final knot set. Should work well with any type of glue that you choose to use. Good luck!
