The old is more aggressive than the new, at least mine is.

I have an Old that is very mild. I think there are different iterations.

I agree. Either they made different specs or just the tolerances varied a lot. The Old I had was much milder than a New LC.

I Have heard of a few newer OLDs that were thought of as milder. The older ones all seen to feel aggressive.

The thick cap ones from the '20s are generally considered to be milder than the older thin cap ones.

That is what I was thinking.

I'm going to guess that a lot of folks are afraid of worsening handle cracks in Olds and therefore shave at a more aggressive setting than with the handle fully tightened.

I had one with the thick cap and it wasn't very aggressive. Not as mild as a Jagger 89, but definitely very far from R41 territory. I also had a Goodwill #164 that Gillette used a really thin cap like those on the earlier olds. It was also a medium aggressive shave.

If your fingers are thin enough hold the top threaded piece of the handle while you tighten it, not the tube itself.

Redneck logic.. if it don't rattle it is not good to go...works for trucks and shotguns too!!

I still don't buy into the belief that blades chatter or flex during the shave, provided things are tightened up as they should be.
