Leisureguy has updated the list of sampler sellers on this page on his blog. There are about 25 different vendors selling samplers now. Truth be told, anyone can create their own sampler by purchasing a bunch of individual blade packs. Here is the current list, but it seems likely that Leisureguy will continue to update it as time goes on. Better yet, buy his Guide to Gourmet Shaving and get a great deal of additional information. * BestShave.net (in Turkey; free shipping of blade sampler packs) * BullGoose Shaving Supplies (in the US) * Connaught Shaving (in the UK) * Details for Men (in the US) * Em’s Place (in the US) * Fendrihan (in Canada) * Italian Barber (in Canada) * Kinetic Blue (in Australia) * Lee’s Razors (in the US) * Pureman.com.au (in Australia) * Razor Blades & More Co. (in the US) * RazorsDirect.com (in the US) * Royal Shave (in the US) * The Shave Den (in the US) * Shave Nation (in the US) * Shave Shed (in Australia) * Shaving.ie (in Ireland) * Shoebox Shaveshop (in the US) * Straight Razor Designs (in the US) * Traditional Shaving Supplies (in Ireland) * West Coasting Shaving (in the US) * Via Amazon.com * Via eBay.com
I don't think the Shave Den offers blade sample packs anymore and hasn't for some time. I think that the Shave Den was one of, if not the first place to offer blade samplers. Of course the mobile site does not let me check the store, and I'm to tired to open a new browser page to check right now. Besides, JoAnna sees and knows all. I'm sure she will be happy to confirm or deny my allegations.
If you click on the link for The Shave Den in the list, it shows a 36 Blade Sampler, $11.99, 5 in stock, with three blades of each brand: 7 AM Hi Platinum Astra Superior Platinum Crystal Derby Extra Dorco Platinum Gillette 7 O Clock SharpEdge (Yellow) Gillette 7 O Clock Super Platinum (Blue) Sharp Stainless Super-Max Platinum Treet DuraSharp Voskhod Wilkinson Sword Classic - White Label That is a good deal, and one of only two stores offering actual blade samplers I have seen (the others being from Shoebox Shaveshop). Most blade "samplers" are just a collection of complete blade packs sold as a bundle. I was using a desktop browser, so the store website could be viewed. The store does not work with mobile browsers?
I have no idea, but I'm still getting used to owning a smart phone. Let me rephrase that. I'm sure the store works with mobile browsers, I just have not found a link from the forums to the store.
There is a link to the store at the top of the mobile forum skin. And the store has a mobile format also. (Only viewable on mobile devices, unlike the forum's mobile skin.)
Here are some more: * All Lathered Up - Has a grab bag * Chicago Shaving (USA) * Grooming Lounge (USA) * Mancave Grooming (New Zealand) * Men's Biz (Australia) * Razor Emporium (USA) * Smallflower (USA) * Whipped Dog (USA) At some point, listing more suppliers of blade samplers becomes nearly the same as listing retailers who sell double edge blades. Given that traditional wetshaving is now mainstream, the number of those retailers is now vast and still growing.
Learning to use smartphone is a lot like learning traditional wetshaving. A little different to begin with, but quickly and easily mastered, and then often something new and interesting to discover. And ultimately very useful.
Won't be mainstream enough for me until I can walk into stores here in Edmonton and buy something other than Proraso, Nivea and Williams; and have a selection other than Wilkinson Sword blades or Wilkinson Sword blades
All of these brick-and-mortar stores are in Edmonton, and should take care of the shaving soaps, shaving creams and aftershave departments: Bath & Body Works Crabtree & Evelyn Holt Renfrew L'Occitane en Provence The Body Shop As for the blades, how many of us purchase primarily from brick and mortar stores? I do get your drift though, and agree. In case it helps anyone, here are a few more online outlets with blade samplers: Custom Shaving DeRazorBlades.com Maggard Razors American Shaving Company Vintage Blades LLC I think at this point that listing any more blade sampler retailers is rather pointless. It would be like trying to list all the stores that sell waffle irons.
not sure if you are aware, but both the (in the US) links are not working. these ones at the top: * Razor and Brush (in the US) * West Coasting Shaving (in the US)
Razor and Brush, the website for Giovanni Abrate's online store, went offline awhile after he closed his store. He recently stated that Razor and Brush will reopen and his store will be back. Maybe the West Coast Shaving website was temporarily offline? It is online now, and has always been so. Sometimes website hosts have outages, although fortunately these are rare.
Which razor sampler pack would be the best deal for newbie and worth the money? This sampler pack is great for those who already know about wetshaving and do not want to spent too much on blades. I give you a variety of the popular models, so you can find your favorite blade. The package is made out of 40 Blades. $9.99 razor blades and more Crystal or Blue Israeli IP (10 Loose Blades) Dorco ST301 Blades (10 Blades) Derby Vertical Blades (5 Blades) *Famous New Red Pack Persona Blades (10 Blades) Supermax Supler Platinum (5 Blades) Bull goose $16.95 The Preferred Sampler is comprised of 8 popular brands for a total of 56 blades. You will receive the following: * Personna Platinum (Red IP) (10 Blades) * Astra Superior Platinum (5 Blades) * Derby Extra (5 Blades) * Gillette SharpEdge (5 Blades) * Feather Hi-Stainless (10 Blades) * Treet Durasharp (10 Blades) * Gillette Super Thin (6 blades) * Gillette Silver Blue (5 Blades) Lee's $22 Set includes 40 blades from 4 of the world's leading manufacturers: 10 Astra 10 Red Personna 10 Derby 10 Feather West coast $22 Extended: Crystal Platinum Chrome (”Israeli”), Derby Extra, Dorco Platinum Chrome, Feather New Hi-Stainless Platinum, Gillette Platinum (”Swedish/Euro”), Merkur Super Platinum, Red Pack Israeli, Wilkinson Sword (UK) 8 brands, 60 blades total, $21.50, or 36¢ per blade.
I'd recommend the razor blades and more set, you could go to Walmart and get a 10 pack of Wilkinson Swords to try while you're waiting for delivery. I wouldn't recommend trying the feathers until you're techniques developed, they are the sharpest blades. That would give you 6 different blades to try.
So go with this pack from razor blade and more? $9.99 Crystal or Blue Israeli IP (10 Loose Blades) Dorco ST301 Blades (10 Blades) Derby Vertical Blades (5 Blades) Famous New Red Pack Persona Blades (10 Blades) Supermax Supler Platinum (5 Blades)
Actually, I think I like the RazorBlades and more $6.99 pack better. 5 blades of any one type is enough to see if you like it, and you get the Lord Platinum's instead of the Dorco's. Crystal or Blue Israeli Personna (5 Loose Blades) Derby Vertical Blades (5 Blades) Red Pack Persona Blades (5 Blades) Lord Platinum ( 5 Blades) Supermax Super Platinum (5 Blades) The TSD sampler pack looks good, but they are currently out of stock.
I've been reading up on this forum for a few days, trying to learn all I can. I had planned on reading for a while longer before posting, but I had to register so I could give thanks for this. Even though it's an older post, there is a lot of great info in here, as with the rest of the site. I'll see you guys around.
Anyone tried the WCS DE Blade Sampler Pack, Everything? That seems like a really good deal since there are 115 total blades. Only $0.28/ea. Or do you recommend staying away from packs that have 10 blade groups?
