Not sure why all the secrecy of where to get knots from is all about, but the two most popular places to order knots from are:

There are also some sites on eBay that you can order knots directly from suppliers in China, Ace Shaving and Virginia Sheng being two of them.

Knot size and type are purely personal preference, some guys/gals prefer large knots, some small and badger, boar and synthetic all have their fans.

Yes I'm just currently looking through those very sites. Problem is choosing a couple of sizes is not a decision to be taken lightly. lol.

It might be better to first decide what you want in a knot, ie backbone, scritch etc. Each person has different preferences. Then pick the type of knot that ticks most of your boxes then the size.
