I have hard water and use shaving soaps. This means my razors build up a scum relatively quickly. Every so often I clean them with a toothbrush and a natural products bathroom spray. I do have the Van Der Hagen Luxury glycerin soap in my rotation. This never leaves the soap scum on my razors. I typically use a blade for 3 shaves. The first two days I use whatever soap I chose. The last day of the blade's life I use the VDH soap. This removes the scum from the prior two shaves and leaves the razor cleaner than when I started with the 3rd shave. I still clean my razors with the spray and toothbrush. But I do it less often. Phil
From what I have read, tallow based soaps will leave scum on everything it touches while glycerin soaps won't. Thanks for the tip!
