Great story! Brings back memories of shaving with my dad's DE without a blade!

And I cant explain how excited and surprised I was. It has become my go-to razor and I still havent gotten used to the idea. Every time I pick it up the emotions hit again.

Great story. I wish I had an old razor from my Dad or Grandpa.

I got a SS from a PIF from Jeff right after I first got on this forum. It is my favorite and best shaving razor that I have. I have a total of 4 SS now, but that first and oldest one, shaves the best.....Thanks Jeff! (Stingraysrock)

I remember seeing a razor strop in my Grandpa's bathroom, so I'm sure at some point he used a straight. I never remember seeing a straight razor, but I remember seeing a TTO.

When he died my Mom and her brother and sister went through everything and got the stuff they wanted before auctioning off everything else. I wish I'd thought to look for his old razor but I never even thought about it at the time.

My Dad is still alive but he has no idea where his old DE is at. He's using an electric now and I can't talk him into going back!

Man I can so identify with what you're saying...A razor can really be like a time machine...And everytime I shave, even the lathering and using the brush, I rebond with my POP! It's funny...What a great thing, when you can take a routine part of our day and by changing our perspective it can really enrich our lives in so many ways...

What an excellent end to the story! Isn't it amazing how things we think are lost show up when we need them the most. Enjoy your shaves with your dad's razor and thanks for sharing with all of us!

Best story I've read today. I'm glad you get the chance to reconnect with him in this little way everyday. I'm sure he'd be proud knowing this.

    Great Fathers Day Story!

Kind of the same for me. I was talking to mom about my new obsession and she said that she thought dad's was still around. So she did find them! I Super Slim and a Tech. I remember how upset he got when the handle of the tech became stripped out. I cleaned them both up, gave the SS to my 19 year old son to try. I used some thread tape on the tech and have been using it since. The son loves the SS and I feel close to dad when I use the tech.

What a story. As someone who recently started shaving with his late father's old DE razors, I know exactly where you're coming from. Congrats on this great link to your pops. Enjoy.
