Round 4 Who's house? DOC'S HOUSE! I had to do some touch ups with a injector but as Butt Head would say...................."Damn I'm smooth"
Not really sure to be honest.....alot are Hallow. I just piced up a full wedge...i havent shaved with it yet. Ill give it till sunday for that.
Will, I believe that wedges can be found but most are going to be vintage razors. Posting at SRP will likely give you good results. Raf
Joe and Bill have alot of these older razors for sale. Only bad thing...is...they can be expensive..since they are so old and restored
I loves me some old Sheffield wedge blades. It is definitely a different animal. Harder to hone. But the shaves are SUPERB.
Ahem! That's "character." It has seen better days, but darned if it doesn't still perform well. It's a Wade & Butcher "Diamond Edge", BTW. I am a fan of the Sheffield razors too. Like Raf mentioned, vintage or NOS or custom is about the only way to get a wedge profile anymore. They're a nice change of pace from the full hollow razors too.
My First str8 shave Well, after hours of reading tips, guides and watching videos including the one offered in Classic Shaving, I received my shave ready razor. Took me 2 more days just looking at it and getting ready for the first shave. I guess it went well because I did not cut or nicked myself. I am however dissappointed because it did not turn out as well as I had anticipated. I had to finish my shave with a DE to get rid of all the whiskers. I attempted 3 passes but only managed to do WTG and XTG. The ATG, no way! Placing the razor against my skin to try it felt as if i was going to fillet my face. My admiration to all that shave successfully. I think I have a long way to go before I determine if I want to shave with a str8. After my first shave, I'm a little discouraged. I have yet to try my brand new paddle strop. I hope that goes well before my second attemp to shave this weekend. :ashamed001
My 2nd Str8 shave... Received my paddle strop today (supposedly better success for a newbie) just in time to strop my ready shave razor for the first time before my second shave. Went a little better. No nicks or cuts, however the ATG pass, the razor is not "gliding". Feels as if the razor is pulling my whiskers rather than slicing them off and it hurts. I hope I didn't ruin the edge with my first strop. XTG went ok, but I'm still finishing off with the DE. Neck and chin as expected is not easy for me yet. I'm doing that with the DE also. I'll try again this weekend. :drool
Just when I was starting to feel confortable with my name "President of the Lather Club", I have been downgraded to "Shave Mug Member". How did that happen ???? Must be my new adventures with a Str8.
It is possible that stropping technique might be off a little off, it is expected. The feel of a straight is different than that of a DE specially going against the grain. Without knowing the growth pattern of your stubble, I suggest to try chevron passes like this < or > instead of against the grain. I have an area on my neck that is just about impossible to go against the grain. I use the chevrons in that area and I always end with a DE touch up there with BBS results everytime. Raf
