All I've ever read is that when alum is disolved in water, it creates carbonic acid (a very weak acid that is really not of concern, i.e. would not disolve stainless) and CO2 (and other non-consequential chemicals). I store mine next to a stack of blades in the medicine cabinet. Am I missing something? Should i move it?

I dry mine with a towel, let it air dry for about 30 minutes then back in the container.

I have several Alum Blocks, one that I bought and a couple that I have won in PIF's, I have also given several away. I usually leave the cap off my RazoRock Ultimate Aftershave Alum Block and let it air dry. If I am going to put it back in my Travel kit I dry it off with a towel and then close it up and put it away.

    Why do you need one?

I have a small round Alum block. When I'm done using it, I drop it into an empty K-cup that I keep in my medicine cabinet. You can see in near the arrow in the photo below. I made this little organizer to put in my allotted shelf in the medicine cabinet. Some of my shaving (and other) supplies go in there.
