I did finally install SeekDroid, but haven't tried it yet. I did, however, just install Radio Pup.... Currently listening to John Boy and Billy! Woo-Hoo!
Netflix works on the Evo again with the latest software build. I also noticed a few more eligilbe phones on the NF app download page. I think it's up to eight supported phones now. And of course there's always the rooting option that apparently will get you NF on the other non-supported phones. Cool recent apps: TinyShark which is Groovesharks mobile app. Tons of free music. Just build your jukebox online and then access the playlist on the phone. You can also search for and play songs using the mobile app as well. This one streams so you need high or no data caps. The other is 4shared. Also free music. You can either stream or download music. Comes as an mpga file which plays on the Evo so I would guess will work on most Android phones. Oddly there is another 4shared app called 4shared music which is the one you'd think to get, but it gets shredded in the reviews section. 4shared music is a green icon whereas the one I have is a blue icon. No complaints yet with the blue icon version.
okay, so you want me to be jealous or something?......because I am :happy102 That phone certainly has the chops to be the King of the Android hill right now. Unfortunately I have another year or so left on contract, so I'll have to wait and see what they have next year, but congrats on the awesome phone!
Funny thing this.. I just cancelled my Hulu Plus subscription because I refuse to pay $8 a month and still be force-fed commercials. So I used my free week to catch up on Friday Night Lights and then cancelled my subscription and deleted my account.
I was less than impressed w/ Hulu+ too. I didn't even make it through a 2 month free trial before cancelling. Just isn't worth it. NF is better even if not playing current stuff.
I've got a Roku box in the living room and bedroom. I use it mostly for Netflix and for streaming video from my PC but I've got other applications on it such as Hulu+ and Youtube. I just don't like it when I pay for something and still get forced to suffer through commercials. That's one reason I like my AT&T U-verse DVR... that little fast-forward-30-seconds button on the remote is my best friend. I hardly ever watch any of my favorite shows when they actually air. I set the DVR to record them, then watch them later on when I can FF through the commercials.
Thanks for the info on hulu+. I got a Roku for father's day. I had pretty much decided against using getting Hulu+. However, I am now convinced.
Ditto. All my shows go to DVR first. Only time I watch live TV is when I just happen to be surfing which isn't often in a house full of 7!!!
My D2G has started a random boot loop today. I have tried uninstalling all recently updated apps and yanking the SIM and flash cards with no luck. I don't know if it is hardware or software related. I guess I have an excuse to flash a new ROM on the phone. If it fixes the problem cool, if not, well, it is still borked.
Just a hunch, but I don't see it changing all that much. It looks like Google is acquiring them for the patents held in a move to squash any lawsuits. As much as I would like to see it make a difference, I just don't think it will for the end user.
I'm going to double post this, but I don't care.... Right now Target (and supposedly Best Buy) is selling the Acer Iconia Tab for $399, and you get a $100 gift card...so, effectively making the tablet $299 if you spend the gift card on things you'd normally buy anyway. Anyone need to buy a spleen? Only $399!
No time, it just shuts off and reboots. Now in between reboots it hangs in the bootloader forcing me to yank the battery. I looked at the system update tab and it shows no update available because it is up to date, running Froyo 2.2.
Nothing to do w/ Android but this does fall into the smart phone category. Apologies in advance for any heresy. Sprint to start selling iPhone 5's in Oct. Should be very interesting. If they keep their unlimited data plans it could be huge for them. Lots of folks would defect for that reason alone I think. It would also be nice if a bigger customer base would prod them to update their 4G and cell service. My only real complaint with Sprint is their lousy coverage when compared to other carriers. There are whole states where my phone won't work unless I want to shell out for roaming. Also I'm paying a premium price for 4G which I don't get either at home or work. Something like one tower in the Denver area has 4G, and I never hit it. Anyway here's the article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44246833/ns/technology_and_science-wireless/
