@twhite , I’m sure will get rave reviews from Jeff and Jim in the test trials. Thanks for making this happen!
Helluva thing. Not enough blood for a knockout but I've gone two rounds with the heavyweight and I'd say it beats me on points. Tom has done a fantastic job here, the operation is smooth and adjustment seems precise. Balance is pretty good. Geometry Tom indicates is per his Tom-X, which is to say proven. Going north to south in my cheeks and neck it's ok, while yesterday I did manage a gouge there, more caution this morning resulted in no new weepers. Where the razor is held at a different angle though its tendency to hurl itself toward the center of the Earth is quite strong, too strong for me, so head shaving takes extraordinary effort to keep the head from bouncing a fraction of a millimeter and drawing blood. Thus second shave this morning I skipped the ATG pass on the back of my head, did more strokes WTG and ended up with a very passable near BBS. For me it's too heavy pure and simple. Letting the razor do its work isn't applicable given my head shaving routine. In aluminum or titanium this would be killer. For the record I used BIC yesterday, Treet today. Setting I settled on was 3.5. Sent from my LG-US998 using Tapatalk
As you know I'm not a heavy razor guy. My favorite two razors, the Shake Sharp and Enders Speed, are Bakelite/Plastic. So I'm anxious to see how others manage. Hope we have another head shaver on the list! Sent from my LG-US998 using Tapatalk
Excellent info. I am looking forward to getting the TAR in my anxious little hands. Aluminum sounds like a good idea, but I am holding out until I try it out myself. What a beautiful work of art.
I am trying to get one made from aluminum to send out with the brass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Nice. I have all of the components made. I need to do all of the handle fluting and knob fluting and Numbers. Got swamped at work so I hope I can do a few days during lunch and get it all done. It will be as machined no finish on the ALUMI-TAR. I also made it a bit milder on the lowest setting. I REALLY look forward to the feedback and comparisons of both of them. I think this is my best razor to date. Personal opinion of course YMMV Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Great news. I am looking forward to trying the ALUMI-TAR, too. If things work out right, I should have the TAR Thursday. That means a Friday shave with it. I will put it through its paces.
I've been trying to resist, but I'm intrigued by this razor. I'd like to be added to the pass around list as well, Tom.
You are in. Stoked that you will be giving it a go. Looking forward to your review. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
