I may be the only one to say this, but for the price, I thought T&H 1805 shaving cream was a rip-off at full price. Give me TSD cream anyday.

If you want a real bargain, get TSD shave SOAPS. Performance is even better IMHO opinion and cost/shave is about as low as it gets.
T&H creams are outstanding IMO, but very expensive. I love the scent of 1805, so I ordered the cologne from On The Fly. Unfortunately, their free shipping is very slow :(
Now, if JoAnna can do a good 1805 type scent in TSD cologne...

I do agree that the T&H creams are nice products. I have the Tralfagar and WIL which I am very happy with. Pricey? yes but still nice:)

I'll join the anti-Merkur blade bandwagon. And at their price, I probably wouldn't ever bother to try to find the "right" razor for them to wring the first "M" out of YMMV.

The only other things I've personally tried that just didn't work at all have been some no-name boutique soaps I've received either as gifts or as ill-advised purchases (none from any of our cadre of boutique sellers!) Even those, though, work well in superlathers.

  6. Hiya,

I can think of a couple things I'll never want to use again....ever. The first would be the famous Merkur blade. Yeah, German engineering and all that paying attention to detail kinda mentality should make for a good blade, right? Heh, not exactly, and these are quite a practical joke on the buyer of a Merkur razor. Yeah, the blade's included with the razor..........pretty cruel eh?

Oh, those Treet 'Black Beauties'.....the old timey ones from India........just a horrid little blade for my face.

Heh, I just hated the way Tabac soap smelled. It was so ghastly I was only able to use it twice before giving up. That's one scent I'd never get used to, and would throw my shave way off in the wonderfulness level. I sent it to someone who must have enjoyed it more than I did.

I believe it may have given me the spins......although a couple people don't find it quite as awful.....

The Gentlemens Refinery is way overpriced and not worth it. Not a bad product just not worth it.
So far any blade that is not a Red Personna has sucked too.

Bic DE blades are not that great, at least for me, I cannot use Feather blades, and I just threw away a BIG bunch of shaving creams that I bought for cheap money. I will soon list the names of these creams.

+1 to this. Zirh cream in a toothpaste style tube was unfortunately my first step beyond canned goo. You're so right about the menthol. It pretty much numbs your face so completely to the point where you wouldn't feel it if you gashed your face wide open.

And it does not lather. At all. Useless stuff.

I agree. Zirh just gives cooling, but, it's garbage.

As I said earlier, I threw away many cheap imported creams. Here are some of them:

    1. Gypsy lather s/c
    2. Samsol lather s/c
    3 Admiral lather s/c
    4. Vicco Turmeric lather s/c
    5. Super Max lather s/c
    6. Berg lather s/c
    7. Power lather s/c
    8. Barbon lather s/c
    9. Confident lather s/c
    10. Aromatic lather s/c

These are just 10 of close to 50 brands that I do not think are fit for my worst enemy to shave with.

The worst of the rejects, my friend. As I remember more, I'll be listing them.

  13. Hi Jeff,

You know, those could have been put to good use for that Secret Santa thing recently. Heh, they coulda made a great practical joke!

Yeah, you could have included em with a note saying something like " I know you have probably never heard of these items, but they're the ones I use on special occasions only. Many of these are now discontinued, and all are from my private stash, which is rapidly dwindling. These are the finest creams I've tried, and wanted to share them with you". (Heh, nice huh?).

Anyway, maybe even go so far as to ask him to review the creams........heh. Now that might be pretty funny, and I admit to it being something I might do myself. Of course, it would have to be the type of member that you could goof on like that......I can think of a couple of those.

    Well, there's always next year,
