This is listed as a straight, which clearly it is not, but I have no idea what it is. Has anyone seen something like this before to know what it is? https://www.ebay.com/i/303831712170...70&pmt=0&noa=1&pg=2386202&algv=DefaultOrganic Sent from my LGUS992 using Tapatalk
Looks like a folding putty knife or paint scraper! Plus, Sargent is a maker of hand tools. Not so sure they ever made straights.
I was leaning toward putty knife too, but it seems like the pivot would make it uselessly weak in the middle. Doesn't seem like it would give any benefit to offset the weakness either. I wasn't familiar with the brand. Kind of a funny idea, though. Shaving your face with a putty knife. Sent from my LGUS992 using Tapatalk
Sargent tool co has been around since 1870, long before drywall and modern windows. I believe it's a folding glazers putty knife so hinge area wouldn't be horsed on hard. window glazing putty is made with linseed oil so is quite soft (I've installed a few paned windows in Africa, (one of the many places it's still used)). Also quite often it's common practice to choke up on the blade when using it.
