Anyone shave in the shower?

  1. I tend to take the coldest shower possible in the morning, its quite invigorating and sets my day off an a bright tone. But it also means that I try and hurry to get out of it XD. It's nice to finish an icy shower, put on some tunes. Then face lather at the sink for a shave.

  2. Sink shaver, because I take that well needed time to start my day, and the lighting over the sink is perfect... no shadows or anything, and enough space in the medicine cabinet and sink shelf for all the goods.

It makes more sense! :) I never really thought of that before. I always do it IN the shower while my conditioner is sitting and it's sooo hard to keep the shaving cream on. :p

I shave after my shower and wash my face with hot water in between WTG, XTG, XTG Opposite. Still new to DE shaving so waiting before I start ATG til I get used to keeping the right angle and not using any pressure. But I still get damn close to BBS

P.S The first blade I tried out of the little sampler pack Jeff sent me gave me a way better shave than with the merkur blade that came with my razor.

Used to shave in the shower when I was using the Mach 3. Really hated shaving so I tended to make it quick in the shower. If I forgot to bring my razor in the shower, rather than trek water all over the bathroom, I would give myself a quick dry shave right after the shower.

Now I find myself getting up about 15 minutes earlier, because I really enjoy building the lather and giving myself a nice 3 pass shave at the sink.

I still have the Mach 3 and my last 2 cartridges in my desk at work just for an emergency, but doubt I will have to use it any time soon.

    Shave In Shower...

Occasionally I used to shave in the shower but I would have to stand sideways to the shower stream and use a mirror hung from a suction cup thingy and the mirror would always fog up. Much better off shaving at the sink because the sink mirror won't fog up, at least when I'm shaving, and I need my glasses on to shave as I am extremely shortsighted without them.:ashamed001

I use to shave in the shower, but one day it just stopped working. Seriously, the razor wouldn't cut anything. It might have been a new brand, or maybe my facial hair changed slightly.

I shaved in the shower for many years, using soap as a lubricate. Works quite well if using a cartridge. Now that I'm off the cartridge payoff schedule, I use the sink after the shower which preps the beard just right.

Shower shaver here. I've been doing it for over 20 years, now.
First, I switched from canned foam to VDH brush and soap - that was soon after I moved the operation to the shower.

About 2 1/2 years ago, I switched to DE and never looked back.

I really need the mirror- although I suppose a person could get a mirror for the shower. Another issue is I like using a nice brush, a bowl to lather up the cream, and I set it in a full tup of scalding hot water in the sink. I actually soak my badger brush in hot water while I shower for a very comfortable shave when I get out. I also like the scent of the shave cream to stay on my face and just do a light towl-down after shaving, before adding shave balm. I assume if I was in the shower all that "after scent" would be washed away...
I have seen people shave in the steam room at the club, without shave cream, because of the hot humid atmoshere. I found it somewhat rude and a slight hygeine issue for the rest of us, but for some of the final XTG and ATG strokes it actually made sense. Maybe shaving in the hot shower is very similar to really smooth it out! Good luck

I would but the hot water won't last long enough.

I do either from time to time. Now that I actually enjoy shaving I sometimes use it as one of my calming routines before bed. I just recently started using a shave mug to make my lather. I also use a shave mirror for the shower. My aftershave smells the same as my soap so after my shower I use cold water, dab face and apply aftershave. I usually am not rushed at night and get a really close shave. I'm good all the next day. And since I just started with XTG and ATG I could almost go 2 days before I get a 5 o'clock shadow.

I have done my last shave in the shower this Sunday morning. I was using my Feather Popular with a Rite Aid Personna (for the 2nd shave!) and, whoops! A very slight slip and I now have a cut whose scar will probably be there the rest of my life, despite prompt attention to it and periodic applications of Vitamin E oil to the area. I got a tiny weeper as well in the spot I shaved off my mustache (bloodlessly) yesterday as well. :ashamed001

Standing in front of the sink is not so terrible. In fact, it now has a great appeal to me; I don't need to peel my face away. Oy! :(

I shave in the shower. But it's really hard to shave your legs in the sink. At least my sink. :D

It would be even harder if you had to shave them in my sink :D

Shower Shaving Has Almost become The Norm

I used to shave at the sink just because that was the way I learned it. People just didn't shave in the shower back when I started shaving in the 1980's. My dad shaved at the sink and my grandfathers shaved at the sink. I think that it was Sharper Image that started to make it more mainstream when they came out with a shower shaving mirror that they claimed wouldn't fog up. It intrigued me. I started shaving in the shower and really found that I got the best shave there. My skin improved a lot and I found my blades life were extended 10x plus. Shaving cream cans left a rust ring back in the 90's but they have since fixed that. I bought an iKon Deluxe Classic safety razor not long ago and I've found it has adapted to my shower shaving quite well. It is stainless steel. Shaving product companies are facing the fact that a lot of people shave in the shower lately and they have adapted their products for the shower. The shower shaving mirrors still suck though. Maybe it is Gillette and Schick fighting for the sink shaving still because there is more money to be made by them there. If the blades don't last as long at the sink then they can get more money out of you.
