If I may chime in ... I've had a sample of lavender AOS and I've had a couple of tubes of KMF and now I'm hooked on Macca Root, which I may say is the "Bomb". AOS is over priced but does a far better job than KMF. J ust my 2 cents. Peace
Maca Root is really great stuff and if you can catch it on sale, you can get 2 tubs for the price of 1 at AOS. The only thing some may see as a downside to it is it just doesn't have much of a smell (other than soap and maybe a faint rooty smell). For me, the stuff is just too good not to keep a tub around all the time though.
There is a Body Shop nearby, I should go pick up some samples. I have never tried AOS, I never hear anyone complaining about their quality though. Maybe that will change since the reformulation is going on.
Are they in the mists of a reformulation? Just curious where'd you hear that? It'd be interesting to see if they introduced a separate, more affordable line of soaps, creams etc. And still continue to sell their current formula. That would be the right business move IMO. Give buyers the option while still keeping all their products in-house.
The AoS soaps are no longer tallow based. Same price though. The reviews I've read say that the new formula is slightly different, but still excellent.
Valobra used to manufacture the AoS line of soaps. They have switched to a different, US based, manufacturer and from a tallow base to a veggie base. I have heard that the new line is still excellent, but as has been mentioned the prices remain the same ($50/wooden bowl with soap, $30/soap refill puck, and $25/shaving cream).
Well, I'm not going to argue it - if you like AOS, use it! However, in my corner of the universe, 11oz. KMF is $5.95, and it takes just 2 pumps from the bottle to make more lather than I can use - enough for 4 passes, and probably enough for a 5th. And it performs very well indeed. Swarden is right - it's your shave, enjoy it your way!
