It's also used by Haitian Voodoo practitioners, but in a good way.

Day two on the Sharp Star and another fine, fine shave. Twenty seven days into the month and I haven't had a bad lather yet from Arko. No surprise there, though. However, I did catch a glimpse of a couple of other soaps in the cabinet today and I'm ready for MAYhem just to change up the soap. I'll never stop using Arko but after twenty seven days the feel of lanolin or the scent of anything other than lemon will be welcomed! You've all seen my Fatboy and brush etc., so I'm throwing up a couple of pictures I took tonight while getting "Matthew" ready for May 1. These are a couple of shots from before the cleaning. You'll notice the blade is still in the razor. And, just to put some fears to rest, the "trick" to this razor for MAYhem has nothing to do with the blade that's in it. Even I won't try something like that. The New is in decent shape! Needs some replating but it's in far better shape than I had hoped. Fun to work on tonight and get cleaned up. High spirits all around.

 

Not necessarily all y'alls though. Popsickle sticks? I watched last year because I was new to The 30 Day Crew & thought it was a jest. I'm in this time. Small Lilly kamisori looks very doable. I didn't try the no guard/cap Bolt DE for obvious reasons. Yes I own duct tape, and no I won't tape a DE to my finger.

 

Not sure duct tape is the proper tape for the job anyway. Still trying to engineer that one.

 

Nice looking New SC, Neal! Good addition to your Den. I bet it will clean up nicely.

 

I'm thinking a replate is in order at some point but it did clean up well for the first round tonight. Thanks!

 

Jim @Jayaruh has a NEW plated in nickle? Not sure if it's LC or SC, but it looks fresh and modern. Maybe he'll come out of his self imposed No Gillette April and post an old photo.

Day 27



27th shave in a row on Arko. No end in sight. The eternal shave stick. Was a close, two pass shave, usual Thursday heroic finish. No cropped out of view. It doesn't it even look like my photo. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

Another automatic two-pass near BBS shave today on two day's of growth before leaving on a "fun day" with my beautiful Bride. We went out for a late breakfast, visited her dear Aunt, checked out an antique mall (saw a couple of Super Speeds, a Tech, a Gem, a couple of SE's that I didn't recognize, a straight, and even a couple of Japanese razors like those used by the MAYhem group). We then saw the Disney movie "Beauty and the Beast."

Happy Friday. The great shave this morning was the perfect start to a 3 day weekend. Another automatic 2 pass with minimal touch ups near BBS shave. The increased blade gap with its improved efficiency really takes care of business. Route 66 Bay Lime Twist continues to impress. I find it super easy to lather and super slick with a very good scent. I can't really ask for much more. I finished off the shave with a splash of F&C Shambala. I hope everyone has a great Friday.

 

It is a short comb, and it is one of my favorite razors. It was my first open comb razor, and I was a bit intimidated at its looks, but it turns out to be an easy shaver.

Only two days of No Gillettes to go. Next week I will be using the Parker Variant, then I will be back to a new Gillette Super-84 Black Beauty.

 

Looks like a New Deluxe instead of just a New. Great shaver that is on the mild side. I really like mine and have had one cleaned up and plated by Chris at RazorPlate. Great shaver. Enjoy.

Back to the shavette after using the LC New this week. The shave wasn't nearly as close, but I managed two N to S passes without spilling any blood and very minimal irritation.

Not a bad way to finish out the work week.

 

I think so too. I found the New Deluxe to be a very good shaver with it being a touch smoother and more efficient than the New LC.
