There is no doubt that being a Dad is great, however, you haven't lived until you become a Grandfather.
Saturday Today's razor is a PRC Chimera fresh off a Zulu Grey. The last try to touch up this razor on the Zulu was a complete failure. So I reset the bevel on my set of Naniwa stones and then finished on the Zulu. I then stropped it on CrOx and then 100,000 grit diamond spray. Tabac did what it always does plenty of wet slick lather so things were looking good. This time the edge is allot better than the prior fail, the edge is not rough but also not as smooth as usual and the edge is just sharp enough to be acceptable for the ATG pass. One tiny weeper that I think was a pimple and just a tickle from the alum, closeness? Acceptable. I will touch this stone up on a Shapton 16k, maybe this razor and the Zulu just do not get along. April 14 (Friday ) - regular evening shave, back on track and on focus Gillette Canadian pre - War Fathandled Tech / Topaz Platinum ( 2 ) Chinese hardwood with Maggards 24mm plissoft knot Proraso White shaving cream I was interested to see that sometime in the last decade, Proraso changed the formulation for its White soap and cream. My fresh tube of cream says its made with Green Tea and Oatmeal, as do the current tubs of soap; my decade-old tub of White soap says it's made with Green Tea and Aloe Vera. I wonder if the change had something to do with the dropping of parabens? Anyway, both versions work well. I tried directly face lathering the cream tonight instead of starting in a bowl. I had too much water in the synthetic brush and ended up with runny lather. Didn't make any difference to the slickness however - it was like shaving the surface of a curling rink. Topnotch glide and protection even with my rotten lather attempt. And the postshave feel is excellent - a bit drying but the skin feels soft and well-conditioned. The triangle-slotted Tech is a great razor, especially when paired with the rather harsh Topaz Platinum blade. The end result was a DFS+ with no issues. I skipped both the alum and any postshave products to see what the shave cream's after feel was like. Overall a good shave and a nice start to my Proraso cream tryouts (I have all four versions.)
