Part of the issue is the magnitude of the complexity of the Model T. It is basically a modern version of the Gillette Adjustable razors which makes it one of the more complex adjustable razor designs. Weishi mentioned the inherent difficulty in the FAQ for the Parthenon kickstarter. To date, the only other companies to try and build such a razor were the Soviets in the '70s and '80s and Janus with their Toggle clone. The Soviets didn't have the same performance or market demands and Janus' updates are an interesting read into the difficulty of replicating the classic design.

Second, Rockwell has had to start from nothing in building the Model T whereas Gillette had already been making TTO razors for nearly 20 years when they made the first Adjustable. That is a huge body of manufacturing equipment and know-how to build from, representing years of investment and sunk costs. Conversely, Rockwell has had to rely on outsourced manufacturing, using techniques which are more cost effective for the kind of small batch manufacturing that the Model T represents. (It is unlikely that Rockwell will ever make more Model T's over the lifetime of the product than Gillette made Fatboys in a single quarter.)

Finally, it appears that Rockwell has had at least some repeat of its adventures with the 6C, at least when it comes to outsourced manufacturing and meeting standards for quality and tolerances.

It's a lot like saying, "Okay, if we want to go back to the moon, let's just build some more Saturn V rockets. They made those in the 60s, how hard could it be?"

    Parker SRX
    Feather (1 & 2)
B-400 by Tom handle w/Envy White Supreme Two-band knot
    C.O. Bigelow
Alum, Thayers WH, USB, Pinaud Clubman & Aramis
    59th and 60th focus shaves

I returned to the Parker SRX after a month-long hiatus for a few more shaves with a Feather blade. To be honest, I don't see much difference between a Feather and the other blades I had used in it. I experienced several small weepers yesterday from inattention. The bulb of my chin is generally my nemesis. I can get it smooth at the risk of getting a weeper or two, but I often settle for less. Overall, two passes and a few touch ups yield nice shaves, but they are not as long lasting as DE shaves. It indicates that my technique needs more work. After this week, the SRX will return to the storage rack. I'm ready to try something different.

The Envy White knot in my B-400 handle is a joy to use. It creates a mountain of C.O. Bigelow lather in no time. It's not as dense as my Chubby 2 Badger, but it's still fun to use. I'm almost finished with this tube of C.O. Bigelow. I may squeeze another tube into the container and keep going with it. It's a very nice cream, and I may be developing a menthol addiction.

I continue to use up my Clubman, as @clint64 steadfastly refuses to be the lucky dog recipient of the remaining few drops of liquid gold. I'll forge ahead so that I can include using a full bottle of Clubman on my shaving resume.

I've been riding along on the thread this month, enjoying the shaves and the banter, as we prepare for our upcoming move. Things continue to come together nicely.

    Proraso PreShave
    Feather
    Blackland Dart
    Semogue OC Cherry Boar
    Ogallala Bay Rum SS
    Ogallala Bay Rum AS

Much better today. 2nd day of the Feather blade. 3 pass DFS with only one weeper under the nose. No alum needed, the Ogallala AS handled it. The Ogallala SS sure seems to be the easiest SS to lather for me, bar none in my inventory (even easier than the few creams). Explodes into incredible lather in 4-5 circles while loading. I palm lather many of my soaps that don’t come in a container. Easily enough for 3 passes with leftovers. Three passes just because I like this aroma so well. Second use of the Feather, none of the drama from yesterday. May think about lightly corking them for the first time now on.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Thank you Jason, next Monday the captains choice will have to stay home. It has started to leak out in my bag, I’ve been smelling bay rum for the last six days in all my clothes.
