Same same. The Above The Tie Windsor continues to deliver nice shaves and the Astra blade remains smooth after 8 or 9 shaves (I lose track and that’s okay). I have, however, ordered a slightly more aggressive plate and should receive that this week.

Just a quick observation, modern razors that cover the tab of the DE blade are really nice. I have three-Standard aluminum, Blackbird and now ATT.

Thanks Joe. Its difficult to come up with photos of the same set up every day, but I know how much I like to see all of you fellows' gear and shave setups, so I try to play along.

Awesome lather this morning courtesy of SC and the horse hair. I really like the feel of the horse hair. I just wish it had a little more backbone.

Three nice drama free passes with plate 6 in the Rockwell. The alum was barely noticeable.

A little witch hazel followed by the Clubby juice.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday.

Nice picture! Sounds like a great shave. I love the look of that brush!
I’ve never tried a horse hair brush. I’ve been thinking about getting one myself, for a long while.
this post might just push me over the edge to get one soon.

Major disappointment in today's shave. During the first pass, no less. I drove over a speed bump at the middle of South Porcupine Alley(from lower lip to jawline). Went full speed on caring for it, with Neosporin and a large bandage. It made chewing my breakfast food a little tricky. The rest of the shave was very well done. 0:30 for the first loading, then occasional extra loading throughout the shave. I had Stoylin Ramblin' Man soap, thus I knew it would be a success(minus the bad cut). It was. Nice job down at Cactus Nation. No bad issues down there. The Ramblin' Man AS provided for a smooth finish. Since the cut was the only bad blemish(and a blemish it was), this gets a Pretty Excellent.

SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, APRIL 13, 2021

It was a pleasure to wake up to a sunny morning feeling decent. Called in to the Vet ICU. Mitten is apparently up and doing well after his coyote tussle yesterday morning, not bad for a 16 year old kitty. The bride headed over to see him at 8:00 this morning and returned in great spirits. If he continues to improve, we can pick him up Thursday.

This morning’s mug shave featured the Herder 49 15/16. Lately I find myself reaching for my son’s blue resin handled 22mm silvertip badger. I don’t know whether it’s the bristle density or the loft, but this is one great little brush. The brush is both incredibly soft yet at the same time exhibits great backbone. It felt great on my mug. So good in fact that I went for a fourth pass on my neck.

I selected one of my two favorite Gillettes, the New Standard. It never fails to deliver, and certainly didn’t this morning. My usual dome shave consists of two ATG passes, but that dang brush felt so good that I went for a third pass. IMO the best head design Gillette ever produced was that for their New series of razors. The New Standard and New LC are masterpieces coming before the need to cut safety razor costs. I feel clean, refreshed and oh-so-smooth.

RAZOR: F. Herder 49 15/16 (Mug), Gillette New Standard (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: BG Blue Resin Handled 22mm Silvertip Badger
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with PAA Rabid Banana Star Jelly Balm.

Sorry to hear about the cut. At least the rest of the shave was excellent. Hopefully, it heals up quickly.
