Not quite sure I understand what your asking, but whichever allows for an even smooth stroke in your situation...

I've been interested in producing my own strop for a while now, not that I wouldn't want one of yours, just like trying my hand at things, but having a hard time sourcing the leather, with no tanneries or saddle shops in the area. Where did you source it, OR how did you go about your search; how do I articulate what I'm looking for? Will any old piece of leather do? I'm wanting to make a four-sided bench strop (linen and three leathers). Thanks, Glen, for any input, and good work, as always.

Guys I am cleaning out the drawers and cabinets of some of my personal collection.. I am not going be posting all the pics here, only on the website www.gemstarcustoms.com

There are some very rare, very choice razors, that I just haven't used in way to long.. It is time to rotate some out and bring others in...

I consider all the razors to be shave ready, but I am not re-honing them I will strop them before them go out though..

Not to worry some DFS razors are going up too, and not all of my personal stuff will be in that price range, There are quite a few coming over the next couple of months

    Update:

The strops are a continual item at Gemstar now, and I added 99.99% pure CrOx as an item also..

I am always hesitant to put numbers out there myself, the source says .30 micron, I say it is the smoothest feeling I have tried to date :) very very consistent stuff..

$8 gets you enough for many many years to come :D

I really like my bench strop after a couple weeks of using it Glen. It makes it easy to work on learning the flip and the width means I don't need to figure out X strokes yet either :)
