Just listed this morning @ GemstarCustoms Some new razors up on the "Razors for Sale" page... http://www.gemstarcustoms.com/index...._for_sale.html I have been trying to keep a few starter razors up on the site at all times now, They are priced between $50-$75 shave ready take a look...There are 3 on there right now... Also this one just went up on the site this morning NOS alert !!!!
Gemstar Customs 7/8 Henckels Friodur "AquaMarine" Starting off April with a no fooling razor... I have saved this Spanish point worked spine blade for months, waiting for just the right scales, and this new AquaMarine acrylic finally caught my eye... Even the blade face has been taken to a much higher level of polish then factory, it is a near perfect mirror... the entire razor just glows, the scales look almost 3D in your hand... The pins are Nickel Silver with Bi-metal stacked washers with a Silver jeweled center post, the wedge is Faux Ivory..
Another Wade & Butcher for May on the website right now,, This one is a bit different though, this is a 5/8+ Zero hone wear Full Hollow grind... So for those of you that like the American and Solingen full hollows, but have always wanted to try a Sheffielder this one is for you A brand new color of acrylic "Cranberry Juice" with a Emerald acrylic wedge and tri-metal stacked washers with Nickel-Silver pins... Honed to a smooth full shave ready condition..... Please order through the website....
Beatiful work, Glenn. I really like your style. The new black background looks really good too. Thanks (as always) for the razor porn!
The vision for this razor started back in April when I found the razor and the new acrylic... It was hard not to make it earlier but thankfully I have had plenty on the bench to keep me busy... The 5/8 size actual square point razor is near flawless I can't find any blems... The Acrylic is a sparkling Red, White, and Blue held together with SS washers and NiAg pins a Red wedge to match the theme... HAPPY 4th of July !!!! Some things you should know about this one that you can probably figure out if you look close.. Note the Little Valley NY markings and the #2102 stamped in the backside of the tail...These should look familiar to some of you... Here is a bit of the company info, that should will put it all together for you... GEORGE W. KORN RAZOR MANUFACTURING CO. Little Valley, New York This factory made razors for many firms, including Case, Cattaraugus, Kinfolks, and Sears & Roebuck ca. 1900 - 1925 My understanding is that George Korn was actually the master grinder for the Case brothers then moved into his own company during one of their many re-structures... This razor has no hone wear that I can see, although she is sharp I have not tried a shave... I will send along the factory scales as they were engraved for the original owner so a touch more history... The Patriot is for sale on my website.... Thanks...
Update !! The Patriot is still available on the website and I reduced the price... Also added a few more Starter Razors that are priced right and ready to shave... For anyone hunting Barber Hones there are 2 Swaty's for sale on there... Check it all out here http://www.gemstarcustoms.com/index.php/razors_for_sale.html
I finally took a couple of days to get some new stuff up on the website.. Go to the Razors for Sale page: http://gemstarcustoms.com/index.php/razors_for_sale.html There is a Custom A. Kastor & Bros. three day set with a Shumate Travel Strop-Hone... That just went up for sale.. I have several Beginners razors, all Fully Shave Ready at $75 or less each.... I just added five more Barber's hones that are lapped, chamfered, and razor tested, and the most expensive is $50 shipped... and I still have some of the 99.98% pure Cerium Oxide left.. Thanks for looking
Here are a couple going on the website... The first one is another starter razor a W.M. Morley & Sons Clover Brand This one has no hone wear that I can find, and is bright shiny steel no rust no pits... This razor was in near perfect shape when I got it other than somebody had really botched the re-pin.. I broke it down cleaned her up and re-pinned her... I have been able to keep at least a couple starter razors on the website at all times they are all honed to full shave ready and are priced between $45-$75 they all have little to no hone wear and no rust, patina, or pits.. I try and offer near factory razors for a fair price to get people started out.... The other one going on there is a 7/8 Kama The blade is near perfect with no hone wear on the spine or the edge.... I pulled off the generic Solingen scales that had been stuck on it, and went with a Amber Swirl Acrylic... I added the 3rd pin back in, as most all the Vintage Kama's I have seen have them... If you haven't ever shaved a Kama razor then you are missing an extremely smooth edge... I used all brass fixtures and pins with a Black acrylic wedge... The acrylic has an almost 3D look in person, and is finished to a glassy smooth wet look with 12k Micro-mesh then Plast-X Polish... Find these two and more on my "Razors for Sale" page
Update !! Warning to Dubl Duck fans you are going to kick yerself if you don't go look at the barber's hones I just listed Also more razors went up today, Twin Ontario Cut Co. Customs and a Niiiiiiiiiiiiice little Simmons !!! Starter razor...
