Awesome, Glen. I'll be checking out your page to see what else you have coming up. Thanks for the heads up.
My personal favs are 5/8-6/8 Extreme Hollows with Spike points and Cracked Ice scales or really bright colors...I tend to really like NY brands but any well ground hollow will work for me.. Japanese Kamisori razors could be all I owned if pressed hard, they are a no frills, no nonsense, shaving machine, but tend to take a ton of concentration while shaving, but OMG what a shave
This was a project that was waiting for the right razor and this one was the one.. 11/16 German made "Blue Steel" razor with no visible hone wear, full hollow grind, square point.. The steel is a nice satin glow that came out near flawless with very light buffing.. It came with genuine Ivory scales, but on very close inspection (30x) I could see a pressure crack forming at the wedge pin it wasn't through the scale but it would be soon... Soooooo I would like to say I planned the Blue color liners to match the Blue Steel name, but to be honest I had the .080 Blue G-10 for over a year when Phil over at Masecraft sent it to me for a sample.. I took the Ivory scales and cleaned them all up, then epoxied the G-10 to the back, I went through my stash of old parts and found an Ivory wedge and fit it to this set, I polished out the scales, and the G-10 and put it all back together with Nickel Silver pins and the tiny SS washers... Anyway it is up for sale on the website and here are some pics Also this latest Elk Antler Brush went up today Thanks for looking
Two more for the Leap !!!! A very old fully restored Lichtenberger, how old I don't know for sure my guess is 1810-1830 Purpleheart scales with a real Ivory wedge all brass pinning honed out on my select grade coticule to a nice smooth edge.. A 5/8 "DFS Series" Cattaruagus in beautiful shape, came with trashed scales so I put it in Vintage Restored Cream Celluloid no rust no pitting and honed out to the sharpness that these NY razors can hold on the Shapton system.. ps: this is a spike point but it takes me about 5 seconds to blunt it for newbs on any spike point razor
As always Glen, those razors are stunning. I'm almost worried your DFS restores will start me down a new path - they're such a good value for getting into straights.

April Showers bring more stuff Well my friends since April 3rd or so I have been basically trapped back at the house since the melting snow and April showers took out the culvert and of course washed out the road... We finally got an excavator back in here and ripped out the old culvert and dug the creek bed out this morning so hopefully next month we will have it dry enough to re-build the road What does that mean to you guys well that means that I have only been going into town when necessary so been spending more time in the shop ok the shop, and at the shooting range too Some razors going up on the website tonight DFS Robeson Shuredge from Rochester NY a 5/8 Square Point that is near perfect, it is not Mint/NOS although if I didn't tell you that you would never know I popped the pivot pin and lightly polished the blade and tang, there was no hone wear and still isn't, the scales are better then they look in the pics basically you have a factory fresh razor, there are some very tiny blems as I did not want to dig any real steel off this one.. Honed with full Shapton system to show off the excellent NY edge, I have one of these in my personal collection and honestly they are hard to beat...
