I love many artists and styles. The French impressionists and the surrealists. The cave painters and the modern innovators. But my favorite is the genius Michelangelo.
I don't know enough about art to give a truly qualified answer but I've always liked van Gogh's work. I definitely want a house full of paintings. Art majors might not have a ready-made profession when they graduate but it's not an easy program. There is so much to cover. It's like philosophy of the arts. There's so much theory involved. That is one of the greatest paintings ever. Absolutely masterful.
I have three that I am currently obsessed with. I have poster sized prints of each of these in my house. The first is actually a local artist, although he is internationally known, Gary Kelley another is Brent Lynch (2 seperate prints, but look awesome side by side in our dining room!) The other is Jack Vettriano. edit: hmmm... looking at these together, I am starting to realize I have a thing for womens backs... strange.
I've got several. For darker pieces, I have a morbid fascination with Goya. I enjoy Klee and Kandinsky, but don't ask me why - no logical reason, they just appeal to my eye. Van Gogh is always up there as well. However, I also really enjoy Thomas Kinkade. I know, it is commercial art, but I enjoy it nonetheless - especially his painting of Lombard Street in San Francisco.
