Spike points are great for lining up any facial hair. Half a moments extra care and they are just as easy to use.

Sharp star at 13 shaves with no sign of wearing out. Route 66 perfect strom is amazing. I'm loving it so much that I'm afraid to use it because I know it will be gone.

I agree that they it's great around the goatee. I just need to learn to quit digging it in where my cheek meets my ear.

Gillette Fatboy and Slim, PAL and Schick Adjustables

Second shave with the Gillette Adjustable Slim (1961 G1)
    1-day growth, 2- 1 pass shave.
    XTG-7, ATG-5 (3 on chin)
    7 o’clock Blue(2).

Yesterday’s first shave with this razor apparently was even better than I thought, so I opted for a one-pass ATG (setting 5, 3 on chin.)

With one efficient pass complete, I decided to go on the chase by doing touch-ups on the trouble spots after applying my finishing witch hazel and AS. Excellent shave all around, will probably set me up for a shaveless weekend.

    Have a great weekend all!
    Cheers!

Your Cinco de Julio shave took more guts than any shave with a traditional straight. You are a Dark Side denizen.

    Grand Blade Trial

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Vie Long 12601
Post - Alum, Nivea, The Veg

It's Friday to the real world! So for those of you in it I hope it's a fast day to land you on the weekend in great style!

Second shave with the Gillette Stainless today. Slim is at 6 and the horse has been through the lather. First pass WTG was very smooth. A bit more audible today and the reduction was good. Second XTG same story. A bit noisier but very effective. Third ATG and Gillette Slide was a quick finish for a very near BBS. Probably BBS but I'm not in the mood to be quite that generous. One spot on the neck may be just a bit too rough for that but overall a great shave again. The blade performed well without adding irritation. Alum was quiet.

With all of the blade choices out there and all of the fancy coatings and such it's nice to see a simple stainless blade work like this. Reminds you why Gillette owned the industry back in the day. Sometimes the simple things are the best!

Tomorrow we'll open it wide to see if this sharp blade turns too aggressive. New video up on the blog if you're interested. Nothing to write home about, just a bit on Vidyut and the Zorrik blades.

Hope you have a great day!

I like muted spike tips. Same bennifits on lining up my sideburns and mustache, without the danger of looking like I tried to hug a feral cat. (I bit myself last week with one on the neck twice while trying to shave in a hurry.)

I muted one of my spike points. It will be up tomorrow. We will see how it goes.

Checked my email, and it looks like my order from MD Barber should be here today. I am behind on my posting, but will try to get yesterday's shave posted. Used a Swedish razor for the first time, on 5 days growth. Tomorrow's shave will be with their "shave ready" straight razor, no touch or stropping beforehand. Should also have my de-felined Veg for aftershave.

I don't want to go back to work next week. It has been so nice being able to get up and have breakfast and coffee before a nice leisurely shave. I could get used to this. Must figure out how to retire early
This was the second razor I honed myself and it worked well.

    A very pleasant shave.

Razor: 58 Executive set on 6
    Blade: GSB
    Brush: Stirling Kong
    Soap: TSD Interceptor
Post: Cold water rinse, Alum block

I found out late yesterday that I would be interviewing this morning for the general counsel position with an agency I work with in my current job. As a result, the "new to me" blade trials had to be put on hold and I needed to insure a great shave with no chance of facial injuries. Of course that means continuing to use the Executive, but grabbing the standard bearer GSB blade for the blade and not the Treet King I was going to use next. As always with this combination, the shave was wonderful and ended with a two pass plus touch up BBS and no sign of any markings. It was a nice reprieve from the Royal Red.

I used a TSD soap today that I got for playing the Monty Hall Let's Make a Deal PIF where I earned my CT. The scent was apparently created for fantasy football a few years back. It was not something listed in the scent descriptions. It was my first time using a TSD soap but since I had heard such good things about it, I was not nervous using it for my important shave. I basically grabbed the puck, wet it, and used it like a round flat shave stick. It did not fail to deliver. A very slick cushion from the lather. The scent was very nice but I could not place it to be honest. Very much enjoyed the shave today and hopefully the interview went as well as the shave!

I finally ordered a PRC kamisori, albeit not a custom model, but I'm also jealous of Kevin's left handed Kanenaga.

Trying to resist the urge to get into Kamisoris. I need to sell off between 20 and 30 straights, along with at least 10 DE razors before I consider ordering another razor. Or just set up a bed in the living room. Not sure which would be easier.

Just expand the doghouse with a restroom and fridge. I hope I have some funds saved up for your sale, it's killing me that I'm missing Kevin's.

Got a nice, budget friendly and good for a newbie, round tip that would be part of that batch? Of course I will need a strop too, but I think I know a guy that makes some nice ones.
