If you actually do that plan... You'll be able to use any razor, literally any, that you like. Shavette is the most difficult tool of them all. It will improve your skill immensely. And besides... Chicks dig scars.

    H/t @Keithmax @Drygulch @NCoxSTL @mrchick @wristwatchb and the scar crew...

    (I didn't)

Well now, I get low and I get high...
And if I can't get either, I really try.
Got the wings of heaven on my shoes.
    I'm a dancin' man and I just can't lose!

Scars are just tattoos for the brave.

Fair enough, yeah the price is incredibly low... My barber has actively been encouraging me to get a shavette and a box of Derbys... Enablers everywhere I turn!

My wife will kill me if I acquire anything else, so even if I wobble on my 100 shaves... I won't fall!

@jtspartan are you not part of this shavette crew?

Plus, @wchnu Fuzzy has already provided us all with a one-handed approach tutorial!

Yup, I got a CJB Pain Stick from @Keithmax. I only got a few bad slices early on, mainly from not heeding good advice and practicing without a blade first. I made it a MAYhem focus to get decent shaves with it.

I bet if we all joined this club we'd be the talk of the shaving universe.

Imagine the "Shave Like a Real Man Club"... A monthly subscription that yielded 2 straights, a strop, a brush and 30 days worth of soap and aftershave. You just use one straight for a month, then as part of your subscription it gets honed and returned for the start of your next cycle and so on... You could even throw in tutorial videos and other such wisdom to support as people go on their journey!

EDIT: Of course the straights would need to be factored into the cost or bought up front!

Well, I have a toothbrush like all my friends here. We try to follow the rules. It's not a teethbrush. :happy102:

:signs011: I think you've found your second career! To be honest, my Bride thinks all the fuss over soaps, aftershaves, and scents is a little girly. All my buddies go out in the woods to hunt wild animals. It's a good day for me when I come out of the bathroom with smooth skin and smelling good. :happy068:

    Adjustable August ; Synchronicity Shave

    Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood SS
    B-400 WD High Mountain Badger
    Suribachi bowl and cool water
    Unbranded shavette, 1/2 Derby blade
'59 Gillette 195 on nine, Astra SP
    Pinaud Clubman AS Lotion
SOTD 08232018.gif Couple days of growth so I thought about, then acted. Popped a Derby in half and loaded my SS Shavette. Took a few moments to get a good load from the triple milled puck - I thought the Grundtal was airtight, but the English soap was dry as can be in my perpetual 80% humidity. Lather made and applied I took up the very adjustable open blade and realized it's been a while. I took N-to-S WTG's on my cheeks. Then as per my usual pattern considered S-to-N on my neck. Nope. Been too long since I picked up this style of razor. Relathered and finished off with the Fat Boy. I breifly considered an alum rub, but I knew what it would tell me. The AS is high enough in alcohol that I knew my SR skills have slipped. Fortunately Clubman is a lotion so after the burn subsided I felt quite smooth.
I used to be an open blade shaver. Started with shavettes, then SR's. Wasn't until later I discovered DE's & SE's. My grandfather's Dutch. Isn't that weird?
    Good Shaves Y'all!

When a woman (or a man - I make no assumptions here) rubs her (or his) hand down a man's cheeks/jawline and looks him in the eye, they will doubtless appreciate the clean, softness of skin that belies the strength within... Yaddah, yaddah, yaddah - who are we kidding? :happy102:

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

Pretty much my conclusion after playing for a couple [brief] rounds. Also that trying for 100+ days per blade when I already had over 1000 blades in the stash was just stupid...
