Adjustable (Arko) Anything Goes and whatever else we decide AUGUST!!!!

    August 3

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Arko
Brush - Stirling Two Banded Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Third and final day on the blade trial for the Personna 74. Slim is on setting Me and the Arko was worked into a fine lather with the Stirling brush. Three passes as usual with a trial and all's well that ends well. In fact, it ended with a BBS. Great way to finish a trial. The blade was smooth except for a couple of instances where I messed up on the stroke. Technique error is the only reason this shave wasn't essentially perfect. But, we know that's usually the culprit.

The blade shows no signs of slowing down yet so it's going to keep going. Starting tomorrow I'll start rotating through my other adjustables and soaps with the same blade and see how many days it goes before I decide it's time to change. I'm impressed with the blade as I expected to be. This trial was a bit difficult to judge objectively, based on reviews and everything I've heard about it. Still, that motivates me to try and find the weak spot to take the legend down a notch. So far the legend is holding its own. Fine way to spend three days shaving.

The weekend is here (or half over if you're Keith. I don't want to be Keith anymore - the weekend is half gone). Go have some fun!

Friday August 3. - Adjustable Arko Anything Goes August

Delta Echo Ink black Gillette Black Beauty on 4 / Nacet (5 or 6)
    Alluminati Envy White badger brush
    Arko stick
Alum, Thayers Witch Hazel Rose Petal and Jeeves Bay Rum splash

I enjoyed a refreshing cold water shave tonight. Arko lathers just fine in cold water and the Envy White badger face painted two coatings easily from one pass over the stubble with the stick. The Nacet in the Gillette adjustable delivered very near a BBS with two comfortable passes. However the alum was a little bit warm, so I banked the blade after half a dozen uses. I used some Thayers to cool everything down again, then topped it off with the excellent Jeeves splash.

Overall a good start to the weekend.

[I even took a pic today, but when I tried to post it right here, all I got was an error message. Sorry.]

Wait a minute - where's McMurphy? And why didn't they spend more time developing that young nurse's character? Nurse Rached scares me - but the other one is kinda cute!

I dunno - they look pretty smart to me. I'm pretty sure most of us in here couldn't put make up on and make it look that good.

I thought it was an epic shave but the alum gave a little feedback, still and excellent shave.

Adjustable August continues with the Fatboy at "4".
Picked a cream today, so there was no blooming in the house.

Soaked the three band Rooney and rather than scoop some cream out of the tub, I just dipped the bristles in.
    No pressing, just light loading.
Face lathered and the DRH made a very nice lather, scent greatly reminds me of 4711.

The Fatboy on "4" is starting to exhibit its personality.
Enough blade exposure to easily find and maintain the
    optimal cutting angle.
3 passes, with a light rinse in between.
Plenty of lather for a full ATG/clean up pass.
Still smooth on the lower neck area. BBS in 3.

Nice invigorating finish with the DRH splash. Lemony.
