Paul, it is the Le Père Lucien shave soap I've been using this past month.

Adjustable August means I get to play with all my adjustable toys! Here's the grouping along with my mug of Arko, ready to go! I won't be using Arko for every shave, but I will be using it to trial the Personna 74 blades and maybe a couple more. Can't wait to put all of these razors into play this month!

August 1 shave

Getting near the end of this puck of Stirling. This was my first custom straight razor, a PRC 6/8 western grind kami, it has always been a pleasure to handle.

WTF? 29 post and it is not August yet....sheesh.

 

I will be continuing my commitment to learning the straight razor for the 2nd month.

Everything seems less awkward and more comfortable now.

If time allows, I have been able to get Socially Acceptable Shaves with 2 or 3 passes. I pick up a safety razor still to finish when I want to get closer. I want to progress further and get better with the open blade.

Sometimes I use a Parker Variant to finish with. I rarely used it wide open before, now I rarely use it on anything but wide open. Using a straight has really sharpened my touch and feel sensations.

Yup. That is pretty warm. How humid is it?

 

Today it is lower at 50%. Basically miserable. We are not used to this kind of heat. Over the weekend it was only 95F but 80% humidity. Usually for summer we are in the 80's

i am in with some adjustable action....plus my usual mix of crats ,techs and rockets... f-2 early fatboy, m-4 birthyear and quarter slim...

For Adjustable August: Fatboy, Slim, Black Beauty, Pal adjustable injector, Supply Co V.2 and Rockwell 6s.

For Arko August: a stick every now and then

For Anything Goes August: everything else thrown in at whim

Should be a good month.

 

Congrats on your straight razor progress! Nice job sticking with it. I agree that learning to shave with an open blade will help you improve your technique with any type of razor.
