What's your choice of an adjustable for August?

Great photo, Clint! You staying busy enough to alleviate the empty nest syndrome?

Great photo and report, Joseph! Is Hendrix still offering samples? Never heard of them. Glad it's good soap.

Thank you Perry. So far we have been pretty busy. We miss the girls but are trying to embrace this new chapter.

    SOTD August 18, 2018

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: Superior Lather Catcher
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Soap: Palmolive shave stick
    Post: Witch hazel, Brut aftershave

Budget shave but terrific results followed. Really a nice shave. I did a little more than usual as far as passes. Did my regular WTG pass first, then a second WTG pass on the neck with an XTG pass on the upper face. Then I did some ATG work on my cheeks. Not sure I've ever done ATG work. I'm always afraid of irritation (which I hate). But it sure makes it smooth!

Jayaruh made this wooden handle for me and this razor. He's a great craftsman and I'm glad to have several of his creations in my den.

My wife and little boy left earlier this morning to travel to her parents' house for a visit. They'll be there most of this week. She jokes about this being "band widow season" since I'm gone so much with school and practice after school, so she suggested a visit to her parents and I said it was a great idea. This partially explains the selection of Brut for today's aftershave. She's not a big fan of the drug store scents. Anyway, I'll miss them over this week but am really glad they'll have a great time and can get out of their routine.

And finally, this is my 7,000th post. Most of them have been in this thread and I'm grateful to have such a wonderful camaraderie here in the 30DC. I'm pleased to be on the journey with all of you.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    August 18 SOTD:

    Razor: Razorock Hawk V2
    Blade: Feather AC Professional Super
    Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket
    Lather: Musco Real Classic
    Aftershave: Musco Real Classic
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

A nice Saturday morning shave, which is my first this month with neither Arko nor an adjustable. the Hawk was nice and smooth, and the Musco Real is always a favorite. It is such a favorite, it gets put in the special occasion pile, and hence not much use. I need to change that. I hope everyone has a great day!

Thank you, Clint! I will bet you are right. It'll be nice for about 48 hours.

Thank you, Jim! Yep, they're due back on Friday. They'll meet me at our football game that night. First game of the season. One of my main concerns is trying to make sure I eat right when they're gone as I tend to want steak and baked potatoes and rich foods all the time. Too expensive to eat like that all the time!

I have the same issues when my family leaves. My diet typically goes out the window while they're gone.

Nice picture of a beautifully modified razor! And congratulations on 7,000 posts!

An interesting photo as usual, Jim. I have never tried Musgo Real products; sounds like the shave cream would be worth putting on my future buy list. I just looked it up at Fendrihan, though, and I have to say, it sure ain't cheap. Not as expensive as things like Castle Forbes, but it's definitely getting up there.
