I did the same, except for the electric razor. My young Mediterranean beard would not allow me to get a close shave with those electric thigamujigs.

He says that he shaves in the shower, so I guess all his shaves are wet shaves.
At least he now has proper traditional shave gear to use.

    Great to have you back!

I agree in general for vintage razors. My champions for holding an edge is a Mike Martinez and a Filarmonica.

For this evening’s shave I used the Bismarck for the second time. BOS 2018 ss/as combo by Jeeves, and also the 2019 meet-up brush made by @jtspartan . Tonight’s shave was nothing short of amazing, which was really needed today to help unwind.

Being a blond headed guy, my beard was always fairly light. As I've gotten older, the hairs have become whiter and more coarse. I do have a fancy-schmancy electric razor that sits proudly in a stand and sports a self-cleaning cycle, but I haven't used it in months.

I got tired of the nicks and cuts using a blade razor in college. I tried my buddy's Norelco and was hooked after that. Since I was not getting cut anymore, I considered the shaves to be great. For years, I rolled out of bed, zipped an electric across my face without any face prep and called it good after a couple of minutes. I eventually upped my game and started using Afta Pre-Electric Shave Lotion every so often. I could get 5-7 years out of an electric razor. I may have changed the rotary blades a couple of times in all that time, but I mostly ran the razors to failure and sprung for a new one...about $35 for a corded model. I'm certain that is the cheapest way to shave. :)

Oh yes, I performed 75 rapid and multi-directional passes in no particular order. Nowadays, I'll at least do proper passes and stretch my skin with an electric razor. I only did 63 passes the last time. I'm all about continual improvement, Joe. :)

Thanks, Keith! I’m hoping as the months pass that I can actually relax and enjoy a straight shave! That time, if ever, does not seem soon!

I guess that an electric razor suits you for a quick touchup or a fast shave Charlie. My tool for a quick shave would be my safeties. How's Cathy doing? I am sure you guys are looking forward to getting home next week.

    jluc smelling pretty

I had a can of Edge gel once upon a time. The shaves still sucked so I didn't see the point.
    Beautiful gear, Paul!

3 passes with 1940s gillette aristocrat and with the proraso green shave soap
J hooked around the neck. Got a pretty close shave, a few nicks but no where near as bad as last shave. finished up with my 1940s OS aftershave. Today was my first day back to schoo (online sadly) and my first day as a Senior. Heading to a gun show this Saturday and Sunday.
