    Tabac~~Simpson Persian Jar 3~~Boker Red-Injun 101~~Alt Innsbruck
I am still trying to figure out how it got to be August so quickly.
It seemed like I just put the Christmas decorations away.
Tempus Fugit, so the saying goes.
    Some thread
banter on the scent of Tabac influenced me to go for the gold with it.
Tabac is an incredibly thirsty soap. I over-loaded the Persian Jar (what else is new?)
and went to the Aesop bowl to start creating the lather.
I twice emptied the breach of the brush and added H2O.
While I perhaps could have added even more H2O, I was so mesmerized with the sheen of the product,
I decided to leave well enough alone:

The knot on this brush, while
    decidedly denser than yesterday's Rooney,
    still allows for better-than-average flow-through.
Once again, I will extoll the virtues of yesteryear's Best Badger Hair.
Today's hair is but a shadow of its former self. :(
What ever the reason is, I have no clue. :signs002::signs002::signs002:
Razor today was my Boker Red-Injun 101.
I have seen a post with a 102, but I have yet to see a 101. Surely they exist.
This size razor has turned out to be just what I like.
    Like my brushes, I prefer a medium sized, 4/8 - 5/8 straight.
My brush size of preference has mos def© changed over the past
    6 1/2 years. I now gravitate towards a 22 - 25/26mm knot.
The edge on the Boker is über-keen and with a groundwork of Tabac,
I had no issues performing three
easy passes with the results being DFS+
After cleaning the residual soap from my face with some witch hazel,
I generously spritzed my face with Austria's-own Alt Innsbruck.
Mimicking the scent (slightly) of Tabac and the Tobacco Flower,
Alt Innsbruck brings some medium-strong menthol to the mix.
This is my third bottle and is a replacement for my last one, which developed a curious
separation while still 1/3 full; as in oil and water.
So far, the juice looks good and smells great.

I'm gonna play Devil's advocate with this one, Jim. Before I say my piece, it's your razor, your money, your choice - so take it with a grain of salt.
Being curious, I looked that razor up at Bullgoose. Personally, I'd be miffed (keeping it PG here). While it's not even close to the most expensive razor out there, it's not an insignificant amount of money either. I would expect much better. For the same price, Blackland puts out polished razors that are flawless - which you already know. There is no way Shane would put out something like the Seygus finish. That's just one example, of which there are many.
I wouldn't expect Wolfman quality from the Seygus - mainly because it's not Wolfman priced. But, they can - and should - do better. There's zero reason to get a polished razor that you have to "finish" polishing yourself.
The reason the razor shaves well, is because you shave well. If I sent you my Dollar Tree razor, you'd get a great shave with it too.
By sending the razor back, you're also sending a message to the manufacturer saying "Dude...this isn't acceptable.".
I mean no offense whatsoever - Again, it's totally your choice, so take my opinion for what it's worth. My opinion and $.50 will buy you a coffee...so long as the coffee is $.50. ;)

    +1
We are piling on James, but I just looked at the razor and was pretty astounded at the price. I post this with the exact same caveats as Bruce just did. You are the boss and will make the decision that is best for you, James, but if you look at the Game Changer, for example, for 1/4 of the price, the finish is pretty darn gorgeous.
I will bow out of this now, but we just want to "have your back", brother.

Well, for the August survey, I must say I am not above projecting Anything I Want as our winner, but y'know, I simply can't work my way around the fact that it IS too early.

I started the momth by putting my shave description post in a different thread. Accidents can happen. But in short, it was a much better shave today then yesterday.

    Good morning guys!

    Shavette Shave #186
    Parker SRB
Van der Hagen 1/2 DE Blade (4)
    JR #290 Synthetic Brush
Chiseled Face Cryogen SS and AS

Ok, Dipped the dry brush 3x and just wetted the tips. Facelathered by starting with a dry face. Kept adding water until I got a beautiful slick and picture perfect lather. Did 2.5 passes and got a BBS- shave without irritation or bleeding. Applied the matching AS and I am good to go. The menthol literally woke me up because I just crawled out of bed before the shave so I am surprised that I got through unscathed. Lol! I wouldn't try this with a non-mentholated shave! Tomorrow is the final day of the Cryogen experiment with my updated review on this soap. Have a great Saturday guys! 20200731_224456.jpg

    Scintillating monthly introduction, Joseph! :happy096:

I have truly enjoyed participating in the 30DC thread the past two months and I look forward to continuing this month. This thread and its members are remarkably unique, with a sense of comradery unseen in any other forum.

Thanks Joseph! It is sticky, but that's due to the menthol. I believe that I corraled this soap, but I still have the final shave tomorrow.
