The 'Short Pony Decanter' is from 1968-69, and came in Wild Country, Windjammer, Spicy, Leather, or Electric Pre-Shave.
I have a box full of Avon bottles. Most are the cars, boats, and planes. The coolest one I found is the bulldog pipe. The Island Lime is a great scent but is a bit harder to find.
Have the Quail, the Setter, a pair of Good Shot shotshells (yellow) and a corn cob pipe. I'll try to get a picture tonight. Also have the Old Spice blue tinted ship bottle and just got a Flying Cloud bottle for my birthday!
I bought the King chess piece first cuz I wanted to try the spicy aftershave.. I saw the inkwell and had to have it... and I just brought my brother the George Washington because it's a military theme I'd love to try the leather.
I've got hundreds of Avon bottles, it got to be that I had too many to display. So I ended up dumping the AS into jars and jugs, and storing most of my bottles away in boxes. Now I have gallons of aftershave ready to use! Love this stuff. Sent from my Spider-Phone
I actually only had three, Spirit of St. Louis, Derringer and Beer Barrel, until I received ten more today. All of them still full..........
Tai Winds, Oland, Wild Country and Wind Jammer I don't recall their scents. The others, Brisk Spice, Deep Woods, Everest and Leather either I or my Dad have used in the past. I mostly used his shaving supplies along with his Gillettes when I first started shaving. He always had Old Spice plus an Avon after shave for something to try.
All were on Ebay and got nine of them for $26.00 shipped. I was keeping an eye out on them for a few days and got lucky, I was the only bidder. The Dodge Daytona was also on Ebay from another seller and it was the only one like it still full.
Thanks, but now I'll have to put up more shelves. Not done yet, gonna spend a day hitting up all the thrift stores around me soon. Hopefully get some Old Spice items at good prices.
I have a rolls royce avon car still in the box but empty, and the pheasant with leather scent still full. I gave away/sold my other avon bottles. I need to trade the rolls royce too.
I wish the pheasant bottle was a bit more realistic looking. Especially knowing it came filled with the leather scent. I'd definitely be willing to try that one.
Oh my something else from the past to begin collecting. I just snagged a barber pole and shaving brush decanter.
Wife looked at my watch list of decanters and rolled her eyes until she saw one she remembered owning in the early 70's.... Think I have her hooked.
